Before y'all come for me, let me say this: I LOVE Sex and the City. However, we can't deny that the show was also VERY problematic.
HBO
Maybe you noticed it in the episode "Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl" when Carrie said, "I’m not even sure bisexuality exists. I think it’s just a layover on the way to Gaytown," about her new beau.

HBO
Despite the fact one of Carrie's best friend — Stan — was openly gay, there were quite a few gay and transphobic comments made throughout the series.
Perhaps its the casual amount of slut-shaming that exists on the show, especially around Samantha and how she chooses to explore her own sexuality.
HBO
Or the problem for you — as it was for me — was how white-washed the show was. Y'all, it was SOOO white.
HBO
And the few people of color we DID see were grossly stereotyped. Y'all remember when Samantha started dating a black man in the music industry and then began speaking and dressing differently around his "crew?"
