    Washington Times / Via washingtontimes.com

This political boss straight up LEFT the Democratic National Convention and the corruption of the political machine to endorse candidate Bernie Sanders. She’s a veteran, an elected official, and basically our life goals. Something tells me she doesn’t take any jokes about the leis. Oh, and did we mention she surfs?

    2. Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors

    Fortune / Via fortune.com

The world of Racial Justice has been finally getting the attention it deserves thanks to the amazing founders of Black Lives Matter. Alicia founded #BlackLivesMatter as “a call to action for Black people after 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was post-humously placed on trial for his own murder and the killer, George Zimmerman, was not held accountable for the crime he committed.” Their work is an amazing, empowered response to the systematic racism and oppression that hurts the black community nationally and globally.

Linda is the Executive Director of the Arab American Association of New York and the co-founder of Muslims for Ferguson, a solidarity movement between American Muslim communities to encourage work against police brutality and systematic racism and oppression. She’s also a YUUUUUGE Bernie Sanders supporter.

    5. Christy Matthews

Elect Matthew Campaign / Via ElectMatthews.com

Christy would be the youngest woman democrat to hold a legislative office in US History, at 21 years old. A long time community activist, environmentalist, and progressive leader, her mentors at the DC based fellowship Young People For inspired this #BossBabe to run for office. Yea - while we're binge watching Neflix, she's running a nonprofit *and* running for office!

    6. Athena Salman

    Athena Salman / Via salmanforhouse.com

Athena Salman began organizing communities in response to the severe budget cuts by the Arizona legislature. She served as a Senior Fellow for the Arizona Students’ Association. Young. Driven. Need we say more? She's also an alumni of the Young People For program!

    7. Molly Miller

    Molly Miller / Via mollymiller4lr.com

Running for City Director in Arkansas, Molly Miller is a stylish, savvy, and progressive leader. Miller is a pro-growth progressive who believes that Little Rock is at a crossroads of economic development. Miller supports consideration of alternative plans for the I-30 expansion, the continued rebuilding of the Little Rock School District and increasing connectivity between different areas of the city through improving public transportation and bicycle access.

    8. Lucy Flores

    Via Emilyslist.com

Seriously - What can’t she do?? Someone get this woman a cape! After dropping out of high school Lucy worked her way through a GED program, enrolled in community college, and eventually went on to law school. Talk about started from the bottom now we here. This US Congressional candidate is exactly the dose of ‘real’ congress needs. Flores's difficult early life informs her political views, and she advocates job retraining and educational opportunities to help other people who came from difficult backgrounds.

    9. Pramila Jayapal

Pramila for Senate / Via sdc.wastateleg.org

Pramila is a Washington State Senator up for re-election in the 37TH legislative district. Jayapal was born in India and raised in Indonesia and Singapore. She came to the United States in 1982, at the age of 18, to attend college, earning a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a MBA from Northwestern University in Chicago.

THAT is one hell of a power babe!

    10. Zephyr Teachout

    Via alchetron.com

American academic and activist, she is an Associate Professor of Law at Fordham University and has held the positions of CEO and Board chair for the US-based anti-corruption nonprofit Mayday PAC, replacing Lawrence Lessig.

Purple is the color of royalty for a reason.

    12. Nanette Barragán

From Carson, to UCLA, and USC law school, to a White House internship, and eventually a job at one of Los Angeles' top firms. Nanette is one hardworking woman worth aspiring after. Total #Badass
