23 Unbearable Characters Who Almost Ruined Our Favourite TV Shows And Movies This Year

"A character has NEVER made my blood boil as much as him."

To wrap up the end of the year, we asked the BuzzFeed Community to vent about the TV show and movie characters they thought were the absolute worst in 2021. Here are the best answers!

🚨 Warning: Spoilers ahead! 🚨

1. June Osborne from The Handmaid's Tale.

"June has literally put other people's lives in danger over and over again — and is indifferent to their struggles. She really took it up a notch this year though by sabotaging her best friend's support group that was important to her, raping her husband and then continuing to cheat on him with someone else."

2. Ernst Blofeld from No Time To Die.

Universal Pictures

"Blofeld from No Time To Die — especially after I found out that he not only damaged Bond and Madeleine's lives, but even the main villain Safin's as well when he got his family killed. Mind you, Safin and his family were needlessly dragged in that asshole's supposed 'sibling rivalry' vendetta against Bond and killed for no reason."

3. Maggie Pierce from Grey's Anatomy.

"She's unbelievably annoying, extremely selfish and makes everyone's problems about herself. She comes across as such a toxic person to me."

4. Nate Shelley from Ted Lasso.

Apple TV+

"I know Nate was feeling like he wasn't getting credit for his plays, but he went so completely out of character and became so unlikeable. I struggled to finish Season 2 because I just couldn’t watch him be an asshole to everyone, especially Ted."

5. Pia Brewer from Clickbait.

"I started watching the first episode and couldn’t even finish it."

6. Xu Wenwu from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Disney+ / Marvel

"I hate that he got a swift redemption arc as he was dying. Like, no, he’s evil, let him be evil."

7. Ari Blanco Commerford from Elite.

"She was so annoying."

8. Lip Gallagher from Shameless.

"Lip was always selfish, unbearable, blamed others for his mistakes and took his anger out on Fiona. He kept going downhill — especially in Season 11 when he wanted to sell the Gallagher house because he needed money for his new family, not caring where his siblings would live. A character has NEVER made my blood boil as much as him."

9. Yuri from Girl From Nowhere.

"After the hell and torture Yuri put Nanno through, I really can't rewatch the series again because it hurts so much. She is just a demonic bully who enjoys torturing and abusing those below her, even the ones WHO. DID. NOT. DO. ANYTHING. EVIL. She is practically worse than the people who get karma throughout the series. I just hope they renew it for Season 3, so that I can watch this bitch get a huge long-awaited karma from Nanno."

10. John Walker from Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

Disney+ / Marvel

"He absolutely made my blood boil."

11. Ginny Miller from Ginny & Georgia.

"Ginny is, by far, the most grumpy and unlikeable character I've ever watched. She's selfish, self-centred and is always prioritising her own needs above others. She cheats on her boyfriend with no remorse, is a bitchy friend and even slut shames her own mother, who works her ass off to protect her kids and never gets any recognition for it. This girl needs to seriously check her privilege."

12. Richard Sackler from Dopesick.

"Whenever he came on-screen, I just wanted to punch his face."

13. Sylvie Laufeydottir from Loki.

Disney+ / Marvel

"The perfect Mary Sue-kinda character portrayed as a good character, when she would have been better as a villain."

14. Cho Sang-woo from Squid Game.

"After he sold out Ali...I was disappointed and disturbed!"

15. As well as Jang Deok-su and Han Mi-nyeo.

"Deok-su was just a bully to everyone who he deemed weaker than him and Mi-nyeo was just an annoying bitch. Plus, she was racist towards my baby boy Ali."

16. Masha Dmitrichenko from Nine Perfect Strangers.

"The show had a lot of great moments when it was just the ensemble interacting and dealing with their grief, but Masha took me out of it. I think Nicole Kidman is generally a talented actress (she was incredible in Big Little Lies), but this wasn’t a great performance for her. Masha seemed like a caricature of a person and the accent was terrible (it was supposed to be Russian, but slid in and out of Russian, American and Australian). The character's storyline was all over place and I got to the point where I audibly groaned whenever I saw her on-screen."

17. Hope Mikaelson from Legacies.

The CW

"I'm just tired of the same old plot and she never changes! The goal has been the same since the show started — they kill Landon, then bring him back, then kill him again. She's always looking for him and it's really annoying."

18. August from Young Royals.

"He sold out his cousin after secretly recording him — RIGHT after Willie's brother died!"

19. Salen Morrison from The Good Doctor.

"I love Rachel Bay Jones, but Salen is awful! The most recent episode just proves how messed up her logic and thinking are."

20. General Dreykov from Black Widow.

Disney+ / Marvel

"He was less flashy than some villains, but so much scarier. Instead of a story about some omnipotent being who's trying to enslave the human race or something OTT, he was scary because of how girls were just things to him. All women have met men like Dreykov, not necessarily to the same extent, but with that same general attitude."

21. Gina Linetti from Brooklyn-Nine-Nine.

"I had a hard time watching B99 because of Gina. She was a bit much — idk why she was praised for being a bully."

22. Zenitsu Agatsuma from Demon Slayer.

Madman Entertainment

"I was so close to quitting the series halfway through because I couldn't stand Zenitsu's screaming any longer. I get that he's supposed to be comic relief and he does have some really good moments, but 90% of the time he's just freaking out and screaming like a maniac. A little of him goes a loooong way."

23. And lastly, Mabel Mora from Only Murders In The Building.

"This is going to be very unpopular, but Mabel from Only Murders In The Building. Selena Gomez has been hailed as a breakthrough talent, but she is such a wooden actor! However, I loved Steve Martin and Martin Short, those two are legends."
