Netflix Australia Have Dropped Their July Lineup And There's So Many Good Things To Watch

Can't wait to watch A Knight's Tale and weep over the beauty that is Heath Ledger.

The weather is getting cooler (no, seriously — I didn't want to wash my hair this morning because it was some absurd temperature) — which makes it perfect for staying at home, in bed and watching some Netflix.

    Nickelodeon

And if you're tired of endlessly scrolling because you've come to the end of your to-watch list, then you'll be very happy to know that the July lineup is looking pretty damn good.

    Madman Films

First up, let's talk about the return of some of your fave series and movies, like Cable Girls (July 3), The Kissing Booth 2 (July 24) and The Umbrella Academy (31 July).

    Netflix

If you haven't already started watching Cable Girls, it's a fantastically feminist Spanish drama that takes place in the 1920s — and the latest instalment from Netflix is part of the final season.

Meanwhile, The Kissing Booth 2 is your usual teen, rom-com vibes. This one picks up right after the first movie left off, following Elle juggling a long-distance relationship, college apps and a ~new friendship~.

And, of course, there's the latest season of The Umbrella Academy. I'll be completely honest here and say I did not get the hype of this show, that is until I watched it and fell utterly in love with the characters and the plot. I'll leave you hanging with that teaser — but honestly, it's so bloody good.

Or if you're after something completely new and different, it's definitely worth checking the reboot of The Baby-Sitters Club (July 3), as well as Indian Matchmaking (July 16) and Cursed (July 17).

    Netflix

Remember that book series called The Baby-Sitters Club by Ann M. Martin that EVERYONE was reading as a kid? Well, Netflix has rebooted the series, which will follow the friendship and adventures of Kristy, Mary, Claudia, Stacey and Dawn as they start their babysitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Also Alicia Silverstone will be playing Kristy's mum! Plus, there's also a documentary short called The Claudia Kishi Club (July 10), which features Asian-Americans paying tribute to Claudia's stereotype-busting character.

Next up is Indian Matchmaking, a really interesting reality TV show that takes a closer look at the concept and processes of an arranged marriage in a modern era.

And lastly, there's Cursed — a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend that's told through the eyes of Nimue, who eventually becomes the Lady of the Lake. Helmed by talented Aussie Katherine Langford, it promises a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time.

Plus, if you're in desperate need of a good blockbuster for movie night this Friday, you can press play on Gladiator, Grease or A Knight's Tale, which are all dropping on July 1.

    Universal Pictures

Yes, I will watch A Knight's Tale — and yes, I will be weepy at seeing Heath Ledger smile, laugh and just be absolutely charming.

As well as Top End Wedding (July 1), a hilarious and beautiful Australian rom-com that follows Lauren — played by Miranda Tapsell — attempting to reunite her newly separated parents so she can pull off her dream wedding in her hometown.

    Universal Pictures

That's all for this month, folks! See you in August.
