But then—PLOT TWIST—wild homophobes appear and you want to pull out your hair at their comments.
It warmed your heart when Anthony Bourdain visited the Philippines and gave OFWs the love and recognition they deserve.
But you were so disappointed when Pinoys in the States let us down during the US elections.
Your jaw dropped when Maxine Medina walked the Miss Universe stage and freaking OWNED it.
But you wanted to throw your phone when you opened Facebook and saw the haters doing their thing.
You were appalled by how female protesters were abused online, but also happy to know they had people backing them up.
And you thanked the high heavens for the senators who were looking out for women!
But just when you thought everything was going well, the approval of the death penalty shocked you.
You felt literally #BLESSED when Pope Francis visited the Philippines and gave us the gift of his poncho and cute smiles.
But you couldn't help but shake your damn head at the trashy aftermath.
You felt secure when the president spoke strongly about the value of democracy in the country.
But you were shook when the congressmen and women who weren't in favor of the death penalty were fired.
You commended the president for his strong will to eliminate corruption in the country.
You were so proud of your countrymen for being so woke and demanding the change they deserve, especially during the presidential elections.
But your head still hurts because they're the same folks who don't seem to care about changing for the better on their own.
You want to scream at the people who demand discipline, yet cannot practice it themselves.
You want to throw yourself at a wall when people ask for laws, yet can't even respect and follow the laws once they're implemented.
And sometimes there nothing left to do but laugh/sigh/cry at everything.
