The "A" Reveal On "Pretty Little Liars" Was Outrageous

SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS.

In Tuesday's sixth season finale of Pretty Little Liars, A was FINALLY REVEALED.

IT'S CECE. DRAKE.

Who the hell is CeCe Drake? you might wonder. Last seen in 2014, CeCe was an older friend of Alison, Jason's ex-girlfriend, and the probable murderer of Detective Wilden. Got all that?

OK. So we found out a while ago that A is really named Charles. But we had no idea who Charles was.

But now we know. Charles is CECE. CeCe was born Alison's older brother and turned out to be Michael Myers crazy, so he got sent to a psych ward. And then she transitioned into a woman named Charlotte, before changing her name to CeCe Drake.

WHICH MEANS CECE KNOWINGLY DATED HER GODDAMN BROTHER!

After I was done being grossed the eff out, I realized that I'd seen this story before. On the popular NBC daytime soap opera Passions.

On Passions, Vincent Clarkson was separated from his parents at birth and returned to town to get revenge on them.

Part of his plan involved SLEEPING WITH HIS BROTHER.

The other part involved running around town in a mask blackmailing everyone in sight. Kind of like A.

Then another woman, Valerie, came to town and was ultimately revealed to BE VINCENT.

Granted, Vincent/Valerie identified as both a man and a woman, unlike CeCe Drake, but the similarity between both stories isn't hard to miss.

The other similarity? Passions' portrayal of Vincent/Valerie was horrifying and offensive. And with Pretty Little Liars' five-year time jump in its finale, CeCe's reveal also seems to be a stunt.

For a show that's told such a beautiful story about Emily coming out of the closet, and strong female friendship, seeing a mentally unstable killer's reveal become a transgender story is incredibly disappointing.
