The Interstellar Soundtrack - Does the Music Touch The Stars?

Christopher Nolan has finally released his latest, acclaimed film: "Interstellar"

The film was co-written by Nolan's brother a few years ago and Nolan finally decided that the script was worth being made into a film. With stars such as Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine and others, the film promises to be an intense space drama that delights audiences worldwide.

But what about the Interstellar soundtrack?

Hans Zimmer is famous for organizing and creating the music for Nolan's films (his music has been used on Nolan's other films such as Inception, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises etc), and whilst the majority of the film world has been focusing on the plot of the film what is the Interstellar Soundtrack like?

Well in a nutshell the Interstellar Soundtrack is nothing short of beautiful.

Zimmer successfully crafts the beautiful orchestra in a way to reflect the themes of deep space portrayed in the film. With high strings and low organs the soundtrack manipulates the viewer into an emotional ride that goes hand and hand with the characters in the film.

Whilst the soundtrack is a beautiful masterpiece of sound, what is even more interesting is how Zimmer was told to create it (by the films director Christopher Nolan).

Nolan supposedly gave Zimmer "one page of text" that described the entire film. Nolan then told Zimmer that: 'I am going to give you an envelope with a letter in it. It's going to tell you the fable at the center of the story. You work for one day, then play me what you have written,".

The fact that Zimmer is able to bring out such incredible music in such a short period of time is beyond my understanding and I applaud his skill level as an incredible musician and conductor.

Overall I give the Interstellar Soundtrack a 5/5 review and would highly reccomend anyone that hasn't seen the film and is not entirely convinced to see it yet, go and watch it. Even if you don't like the story (which I highly doubt) the Interstellar Soundtrack will move you in ways that music has never done.
