Non-governmental organisation Sulabh International organised Holi celebrations in the city of Vrindavan, India, for widows living at a shelter.

*Heart fills with joy*
Traditionally, Hindu widows are expected to not indulge in worldly pleasures and live very plain lives, void of fun and festivity. Hindu widows have broken the taboo by participating in Holi festivities before; however, this was the first time they did so at a temple (Gopinath temple).
These women have been abandoned by their families, but they had their shelter companions to have fun with, and doused each other in coloured water and powder.
