Tell us about your sorority

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated was founded in the year 1922. We are apart of the "Divine 9" which is made up of 9 different historically black fraternities and sororities. Our colors are blue & gold and our mascot is a poodle. Our organization focuses on Scholarship, Sisterhood and Service. We are also heavy advocates for education.

What does your organization do for the campus?

On campus we participate in various service projects. We influence students to study and keep their grades up by hosting study tables bi weekly in Milner Library. In the community we volunteer with various service projects and programs that help build the youth and raise

awareness to special issues going on in the community.

Any past events you would like to highlight?

Each year we give school supplies to children in need before

school starts. We also volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club regularly. To bring awareness to premature births we participate in a 5K walk each year.

Any upcoming events you would like to highlight?

On September 23rd we will be participating in the St. Jude’s Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer. Anyone is welcome to join! Check in will start at 7 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8 a.m. This year the walk will take place at East View Christian Church here in Normal, IL.
