A Planned City

The city whose name originated from a song, soon became one of the most prosperous cities of Paraná.

The third city of that state and the seventh most populous of the region of the south of Brazil.

The project of Maringá is dated from 1943 and signed by the urban planner Jorge de Macedo Vieira.

The layout of the city was designed with wide avenues, flowerbeds that valued the landscaping and streets that followed the natural inclination of the relief as faithfully as possible and the project already foresaw an avenue that crossed the city from one end to another

Of corse there was also a concern for the environment and the quality of life of the local population also in the planning of the urbanist, who designed two "green lungs" within the city: the Park of the Ingá and the Forest II.
