Lindsay Lohan Claims She Was "Racially Profiled"

The actress shared her harrowing tale with Piers Morgan.

The throes of racism have claimed another victim, as Lindsay Lohan alleges she was profiled at London's Heathrow Airport.

The 30-year-old actress, who rumors have pegged as a recent convert to Islam, appeared on Good Morning Britain and discussed her trials with Piers Morgan. She says airport security asked her to remove her headscarf, even after her passport was presented to confirm yes, she is the Lindsay Lohan of Mean Girls fame.

"I got stopped recently and racially profiled for the first time in my life," Lohan, a white woman, said. But when pressed further by Morgan to say if she thought she was being profiled because security believed she was a Muslim, she was noncommittal. "I can't speak for what the purpose of it was," she added.

If Lohan was indeed being profiled, this would have been more of a case of religious discrimination, more specifically Islamophobia. Racial discrimination, not so much. She could convert to Islam, Catholicism, Sikhism, or any other religion and she would still be a white woman.

These details could have been worked through further, and this also could have been an opportunity to focus on the real problem that is Islamophobia—an issue that's become even more pronounced with the rise of President Donald Trump. Instead, Morgan and Lohan moved on to discuss another victim... President Donald Trump.

"I don't agree with his policies and the things that he's doing," Lohan said. "But at the end of the day, he is the president right now. So what's the point of picking on someone instead of seeing what they're capable of—or not capable of." When prompted by Morgan, she also agreed that the "hysteria" over Trump has been "overplayed."

Whether or not Lohan has converted to Islam still remains unclear, but the usefulness of her comments look to remain unchanged.
