The U.S. military says the last American troops have left Iraq as the nearly nine-year war ends. The final convoy rolled across the border into neighboring Kuwait as day broke on Sunday. Soldiers whooped, bumped fists, and embraced each other in a burst of joy and relief.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn told French TV channel TF1’s newscast that “what happened involved neither violence, nor coercion, nor aggression, nor any criminal act” in his first interview after being acquitted of sexual assault charges. “What happened was not only inappropriate but a mistake,” he continued. “It is a moral fault that I am not proud of.” (via.)
