    The tongue first surfaced in the thirteenth century and became a written language at the end of the eighteenth century. And it sounds so cool.

    Now, I do not speak or understand Ukrainian, and I have used Google Translate to help me with this article. So my apologies to every Ukrainian speaker for all the things I've inevitably gotten wrong.
