If “New Slaves” (Yeezus, 2013) wasn’t your cup of tea. . .
How about “Blood on the Leaves” or “Guilt Trip”?
Both tracks could easily slip into 808s & Heartbreaks (2008) without anyone noticing.
Perhaps “I Am A God” was too much for you?
Final question. . .
Reviewing his entire discography, it is clear each album present Kanye at a different point of his life. With that said, I still see the same themes of race and class inequalities shared in his albums. His tracks are still composed of creative and thoughtful samples and cultural references. His lyrics still hold the tone of self-conscious arrogance and rightful anger as they always, and probably will always, have.
For those miss the "old Kanye," what Kanye have you been listening to? Or, if you went elsewhere to satisfy your creative rap fix, who else are you listening to?
