“A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.” Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Response to 20 Books That Are Almost Impossible To Adapt:
Number one: any of Mark Leyner’s novels.
Number two: pretty much any of Vonnegut’s novels. The Slaughterhouse movie wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great. Breakfast of Champions was more entertaining, but still not great. I won’t spoil The Basic Eight, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were being neglected due to its similarity to another recent-ish book-to-movie adaptation. I know the study questions would be tough to import, but I would really hate to see this great story cheapened by the masses’ complaints that it’s “just like [that other one]”.
