    50 Shades Of Christian Grey

My review of 50 shades of Grey and why I love Christian Grey

I have been hearing about this book for awhile now, the book everyone is calling "mommy porn". So when a friend lent it to me I suppose I took it more out of curiosity than anything else. I started reading the first book 50 Shades of Grey on a Sunday and by Wednesday night I had finished the second book 50 Shades Darker and the third book 50 Shades Freed. For 4 days I had done nothing but live in the crazy and amazing fantasy world created by E.L. James. And since finishing the books I have not been able to get them off my mind!

I had never read an erotic novel before and if it hadn't been for this trilogy, I probably never would have. Up until last week I enjoyed reading books like The Notebook or celebrity biographies, which are the totally opposite of 50 shades.

The books have 2 main characters : Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Two very strong and completely opposite characters.

Ana Steele is in her early 20's, is a virgin and is graduating from college with dreams of working for a publishing house. She is described as being pretty, being quite reserved, naive and innocent.

Christian Grey is in his late 20's, is filthy rich, very powerful, straight to the point, dominating and extremely and unbelievably attractive (like Matt Bomer HOT!)

One day Ana Steele literally falls into Christian Grey's life and from that moment on the roller coaster of; power, sex, fantasy and a million other shocking things, takes off. In the past, Christian's only relationships have been that of a dom/sub type with him being the dom. He has a 10 page sex contract and rules upon rules of how he expects things and punishments to match if his expectations aren't met.

He immediately wants Ana as soon as he sees her and sets off to have her be his next submissive. He pretty quickly realizes that this is not going to be easy as she is not the type of girl he is used to. And so begins the battle for power in this relationship. Will Christian be able to change his ways for Ana or will Ana be able to accept Christian as the beautifully broken man he is and give him what he needs??

Over the course of the 3 books you will find yourself absolutely hating Christian and then two seconds later absolutely LOVING him!! You will find yourself relating to Ana as she steps into this completely unknown world of Red rooms, blindfolds and handcuffs.

There are thousands of jaw dropping and shocking moments in these books. Sex scenes that make you blush like you have never blushed before. Moments you can relate to and moments that make you slam the book shut and think "what the fuck is wrong with people?!!!"

Whilst there is a lot of controversy about these books as they seem to have ruffled a few feathers as they discuss topics that are still totally taboo. I think that if anything these books have started conversations and led to people being able to talk about sex more openly. I'm a firm believer that if you can't talk about sex then you probably aren't ready to have it. Although I'm pretty sure I would still have a stroke if one of my friends suddenly blurted out "hey so last night my boyfriend gagged me and flogged me". But I do appreciate that these books opened my eyes to a world that I had no idea existed, I definitely learned a lot. It makes you think about power and sex and how they fit together. Are we battling for power when it comes to sex? As women do we dominate as a means to please the guy or do we dominate as a means to be in control and call the shots for ourselves. And as men, do they dominate as a means to boost their ego or do they dominate because they are more in control of what they want. Or does any of this really matter? Where's Carrie Bradshaw when you need her, she knows all the answers to these questions!!!

So if you haven't read these books but you are thinking about it I suggest you stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and go buy them....all 3 of them. Grab a glass or bottle of wine, some chocolate and curl up on the couch and get ready to blush as you enter the shocking and erotic world of kinky f*ckery that is Christian Grey ( you will LOVE him!!)
