The Walt Disney Company / Via

Don't get worked up over the next inevitable storm. Take a look at these suggestions and you'll have everything you need before the first flake flutters down from the sky.

    1. A pair of ski gloves, because there is nothing worse than that moment when a chunk of snow escapes down the gap between your mediocre gloves and travels down your sleeve.

Brrrrr. We've all been there — and we'd rather not go there again. Prevent that awful moment from happening by buying these colorful gloves that have an adjustable buckle around the wrist.

Promising review: "I just ordered my second pair to be ready for winter. These gloves are great and keep my hands warm. They are roomy enough that I can put a hand warmer in them when the temperatures really dip down. I’m outside a lot and they are waterproof too. Can’t beat the price either!" —Amazon CustomerDianne

Get them from Amazon for $13.99+ (available in sizes S-XL and in 12 styles).

    2. A sherpa pullover, so you can feel like you're living inside a big, fluffy cloud all day long.

Sherpa is having a major moment right now, which is so ideal for those of us looking to hide inside our homes until the sun shines again. This pullover is extremely soft, but chic at the same time.

Promising review: "LOVE this sweatshirt. I'm often hesitant to buy cheaper clothes on Amazon — often worried they will be oddly shaped, too small, clearly cheaply made. NOT this one. It's true to size (I'm 5'10" and 130 lbs, ordered a medium and it's perfect), maybe even a little bigger than anticipated, but that makes it even cozier. I'm very impressed and have already recommended it to a friend." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $7.89+ (available in sizes S-XL and in nine styles).

    3. A pair of heavy-duty waterproof boots that will keep your feet protected even when trudging through a foot of snow.

Not sure why, but I waited wayyyy too long to invest in a solid pair of winter boots. Ever since I caved and spent the money on a pair like these, commuting in the snow hasn't been an issue at all.

Promising review: "I have only had these boots for a couple of weeks, but in that time the state was hit with a blizzard and we got more than 2 feet of snow overnight. These boots stayed warm and dry the entire time I was outside despite the snow being as deep as they are tall. They truly are waterproof, and seem to be holding up nicely. They look nice, aren't too bulky to be fashionable, and are really comfortable. They don't feel too clunky to wear as street shoes after you shovel snow." —Merigold

Get them from Amazon for $25.99+ (available in sizes 6.5-11 and in 20 styles).

    4. A subscription to Book of the Month, so you’ll always be prepared with a page-turner if you’re suddenly stuck indoors.

    5. Or a Kindle Paperwhite, in case you like your books on demand.

While I personally love the feel of having a hard copy in my hands, I totally understand the benefit of owning an e-reader like the Kindle Paperwhite. If you're stuck in your house during a snowstorm (for who knows how long), it's amazing to be able to have as many books as you want right at your fingertips.

Promising review: "I've owned and enjoyed most Amazon readers over the last 10 years and have never had any complaint with any of the devices. The last generation Kindle Paperwhite was a superior device, as was the Kindle Voyage. This Paperwhite seems to take the best of both and create a master device that exceeds the expectations for both. I've had my new Paperwhite for several weeks now and I've come to the conclusion that Amazon may have great difficulty finding a way to make it better next time. Is it really that good? I think it's nothing short of a masterpiece." —R. Dennis Hall

What's a snow day without some soothing scented candles? Get ~lit~ during the next snowstorm with this rechargeable lighter that you'll never need to replace!

Promising review: "This is an awesome lighter! It comes in a nice, sturdy box and with a USB charger. It does not come with a wall mount, but most people have the blocks to charge USB devices. It charged within 10 minutes! Then you switch to ON position and press the button. It does hum when lit (I assume as a safety feature). It lights candles easily. The bendy neck gets right in those deep Yankee Candle jars!" —A. Argo

Promising review: "This has been my go-to candle for years now. Crane Flower is a nice mix of spice, floral, and woodsy. I am not a fan of super sweet, citrus, or extreme floral-smelling candles so this is always my go-to scent. It is by far the loveliest of scents I have come across, and makes my whole house smell amazing! Also, these candles burn forever! will not, and do not, buy any other brand of candles...and I highly recommend the Crane Flower scent!"

Promising review: "I love these joggers! I am 120 lbs and 5’7" and the size XS fits perfectly — slim but loose enough to be comfortable! I would say they run a bit on the larger side. The joggers I received were lined in fleece, not terry, but I actually prefer fleece. These are a great weight and very soft and cozy. Promising review: "I’ve had these two weeks now and they are the best slippers I’ve ever owned. I purchased the brown pair and I am completely satisfied. They are super comfortable and very warm. You can wear them outside and they are good quality. I purchased size 9/10 — I wear a 9 and they fit good, about half inch or so big in the back but has no effect while wearing them. I highly recommend." —Angela

I bought it for my utility room in the basement, and it gives the room a lovely glow and cozy warmth. I also love the remote control. You can use the 'fire' without the heat if you choose. The knob on the door is super cute, and when you open the glass door, you can see the thermostat and the other digital numbers that tell you the temperature, the time setting (how long do you want it to run), and the flame intensity. Rechargeable lithium batteries are known to leak power over time and this will, too, but the capacity is so high that the leakage is inconsequential. I charged mine and let it sit for a month without using it. It still showed four of four dots and recharged to the top fairly quickly (sorry, I didn’t time it)." —Steve B

    41. And a snow blower, because who the hell wants to break their back shoveling the old-school way in a blizzard?

When a real snowstorm rolls in, my husband is often outside for HOURS at a time trying to dig our car out from the recently fallen inches. He'd probably give anything to have a snow blower of his own to make the job a little easier. I mean, wouldn't you?

Promising review: "Bought this in September to save my back and do thankful I did! Northern Virginia just got hammered with one of the top 5 worse snowfalls on record. We had over 24" inches. We ran this a few times on fresh snow and it worked great. The final clean-up was about 20". It was slow going and we had to take a few passes but she did a great job. Will buy again!" —Dobbie
