Want to sweat your way through 2020 but don't want to deal with gym rats? I gotchu.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. A boxing game for the Nintendo Switch, so you can practice your left hook without anyone seeing you awkwardly punching at the air.

    Nintendo

I admittedly am someone who thrives while working out at the gym, but there are many exercises I've been dying to try and don't because I don't want to embarrass myself. Boxing is one of them. Luckily, I can start practicing my skills (and break a decent sweat!) at home while playing this super-fun game on the Nintendo Switch. I use this game as a way to mix up my exercises / when I don't feel like venturing out to the gym. I have to say, it's a SERIOUS workout. I'm usually sore for days after and have burnt up to 300 calories in 30 minutes! If you get tired of the provided songs, mute your TV and turn on your favorite workout playlist — a great hack, if you ask me!

Get it from Nintendo for $49.99.

    2. Or the Ring Fit Adventure game that'll combine the fun of exploring a fantasy world and battling enemies with an action-packed workout.

    Amazon

I've also been using this game as a way to supplement my trips to the gym. This may seem like a childish adventure from Nintendo, but JEEZ within moments I'm sweating my butt off. To play, you'll place a JoyCon into both the ring con and a leg strap so your movements are monitored. To move through each level you have to physically run in place and each time you "battle" an enemy you have to do 15 reps of an exercise of your choosing. For example, each time I complete a squat the enemy receives a "kick." It's so fun I don't realize I'm working out until the game reminds me to take a break and have some water. It even monitors your heart rate for you. It's more intense than you'd expect!

Get it from Amazon for $79.99.

    3. A jump rope designed to bring out the badass in you — and help you get in a great cardio workout.

    Amazon, amazon.com

Uh, hello, there's a skull and crossbones on the handles of this jump rope! So freakin' cool! It is ideal for those interested in cardio training and is very lightweight — great for storing in your junk drawer and busting out when you're ready to sweat. Plus, it has 4.9K five-star reviews on Amazon, so you know it's legit.

Promising review: "Very good-quality materials are used, starting from the steel rope, which is encased in some sort of heavy-duty, slightly clear plastic to the smooth bearings. The finish of the rope is very slick and seems like it'll hold up a long time. If you grab the handle and spin it, the bearing will go 10 revolutions easily, speaking to the quality of the bearings. I've only had it a couple of weeks and it is holding up great. For $10, probably one of the best ropes you can get. And from what I read about the owners of the company and their warranty, seems like these folks will be more than happy to get a new rope over to you ASAP if your current one breaks for whatever reason." —Roman

Get it from Amazon for $10.

    4. A medicine ball, that'll help you take your crunches to the next level and really feel the burn— get ready to look like The Rock ;).

    amazon.com, Amazon

Promising review: "With a new baby I found myself doing a lot of upper body exercises while holding my little one. While this is a great upper-body and potentially full-body workout, I found the baby to be a little too squirmy to be effective so I decided to pick up this medicine ball. It was a great choice. It's grippy, compact, and effective. It also doesn't have a tendency to spit up on me while doing chest presses, which is a big plus. Best part — this ball doesn't complain if I accidentally drop it. Honestly — this is a great basic medicine ball. The rubber skin provides great grip. No 'heavy spots,' with the weight evenly distributed across the ball. There are plenty of quick exercises you can do at home to do a full-body workout with the benefit of building both slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle. Ball seems plenty durable and should last a good long time. Great purchase. Thinking of buying another in a different weight." —Todd W.

Get it from Amazon for $28.50+ (available in 10 weights).

    5. A portable elliptical you can use in literally any room of your house — seriously you can sit on your toilet and exercise at the same time. A+ multitasking.

    Amazon, amazon.com

Despite its size, this lil' elliptical gets the job done! You can use it standing or place it under your desk to assure you get your workout in even if you're hanging out at home.

Promising review: "Quite. Sturdy. Adjustable resistance. For under $100?! I was a bit skeptical before I got this, but now that I'm a month in I couldn't be happier. I use it for about an hour a day, almost always standing position. No squeaks, or issues. I weight 170 these days and the machine handles my weight fine. Only thing I would change is I would like the range of motion to be a little bigger, but over all this product is a home run, should be featured on one of those Amazon's Best Product lists." —RabbitLady

Get it from Amazon for $80.99+ (available in two colors).

    6. An 11-piece set of resistance bands, excellent for focusing on working your glutes — or anything else, really!

    Amazon, amazon.com

You can work out SO many different parts of your body using these stretchy little guys — and you don't even have to leave your bedroom.

Promising review: "I have had these for a few weeks now and I must say I'm thoroughly impressed with the packaging and quality of these bands. You get everything you see in the product pictures and it is exactly as advertised. There is an instructional pamphlet that details several different exercises possible with these bands with images of the different setups. The foam bars are sturdy and I had no trouble getting a good workout from using the bands with the bars. There isn't really anything I can fault this product on. It is truly a terrific exercise product that will get you results if you put in the effort of using it. A plus is that it is so mobile and compact in the storage bag that I leave it by the television set so that I can get in a little exercise while I am watching" —W. Kwok

Get it from Amazon for $20.98.

    7. Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch, which is so fun you'll forget you're actually exercising and want to play it. Imagine that?

    Amazon

Step on the court with Mario, Luigi, and the rest of the classic squad and get ready to break a sweat and have a great time! You can even purchase handheld tennis rackets to get the full experience.

Promising review: "I'm not a fan of sports games, but Mario Tennis Aces surprised me. It plays just like standard tennis, but incorporates many different types of moves, an energy bar, trick shots, and special moves that all make it feel more like a fighting game. It's incredibly fun to play with friends and has a substantial story mode as well. Check this game out, it might surprise you with how fun it is." —chickfred

Get it from Amazon for $49.94.

    8. A set of basic dumbbells, perfect for anyone who is just starting to incorporate weights into their workout and doesn't want to accidentally hurt themselves in public.

    Amazon, amazon.com

I may or may not have popped a rib out of place last year while experimenting with weight machines at the gym. So, please, take my advice and start slow with a basic dumbbell set at home.

Promising review: "I've recently started working out at home since I can't do much walking outdoors here in Wisconsin during the winter. Rather than getting a gym membership, I decided to invest in some workout equipment. I've really gotten interested in using Jillian Michaels' workout videos and the one I use most of the time, Jillian Michaels — 30 Day Shred, requires hand weights. I've owned these weights for only a couple weeks and I'm very happy with them! I've used them a number of times with my video and they work great. I feel the price is good for the quality and I will look at ordering others in the future as I get stronger! If you are looking for some hand weights, I recommend buying these!" —Kristin B.

Get a set of two from Amazon for $6.67+ (available in 1–20 pounds or as a set of three different weights).

    9. A trendy at-home Mirror workout that'll probably become your fave purchase of 2020 thanks to its ability to bring interactive classes into your house without also adding a clunky piece of equipment.

    getthemirror / Via instagram.com

I have read SO much about this incredible product and am personally dying to try one out. You can connect it your Apple Watch to monitor your heart rate in real time, workout to customized playlists, and get real-time feedback from certified trainers. I men, my gosh, there are 20+ different genres of classes to choose from! I also love how chic and futuristic it looks! You can also add up to six profiles so you and all your roomies can join in on the fun.

Promising review: "The Mirror is the best investment I’ve made in quite some time. It is extremely easy to use. The set up was a breeze. I’ve only had it a little over a week and I am using it daily even if running short on time...it’s easy to even do a 15 minute class! I also love I can do multiple classes one for cardio and then add on a short stretch or toning class. Basically, I feel I control what I want to do each day fitting into my schedule rather than working around classes at the gym. And for a family this is far less expensive each month than a multi-person gym membership. I’m thrilled with The Mirror!!! Even had a friend join me for a class and she loved it too!!" —Ronda Stratis Elkins

Get it from Mirror for $1,495.

    10. Or marble dumbbells that are fancy, fabulous and quite possibly too pretty to actually use.

    Free People

I'm pretty basic — I won't lie about that — and so I am VERY into these marble dumbbells. They seem like a must-have accessory for any home gym, don't you think? Each one is crafted with natural marble stone, ensuring your next workout will be as bougie as possible.

Get it from Free People for $100 (available in two styles).

    11. A thick yoga mat, so you'll be as comfortable as possible when you get down for a set of sit-ups or to stretch.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

I have one of these yoga mats and it has been a game-changer. Whether I'm taking it to an actual class or using it to follow a workout on YouTube at home, I know I'm not going to slip and hurt myself (can you tell I'm accident-prone?). Its many cute style options are for sure an added bonus!

Promising review: "Love love love love this!! I'm 5'10" with LONG legs, so regular mats don't work for me. I step off them and they're not big enough. This one is amazing...nice and thick. Once I washed/prepped it, there's not slippage. You do have to wash/scrub it or it starts out pretty slick. But totally worth the money. I haven't used any other of my mats since. Thinking about getting another one to leave at my office." —Careyidaho

Get it from Amazon for $22.48+ (available in 34 styles).

    12. A Bosu Balance Trainer that comes with a workout DVD to provide some guidance on this whole "new year, new me" exercise situation.

    amazon.com, Amazon

I was first introduced to this product via watching the Kardashians work out on Instagram (yes, really) and I've grown to love it! It's really simple to use — I like to do my crunches on it, as it gives me more back support. There are tons of other ways to break a sweat using this, so def consider adding it to your shopping cart.

Promising review: "Omg...I love this. I just did 5k race with my son and his friends, it's called The Inflatable5k, meaning you run 3 miles while having inflatable obstacles to run, jump, or climb upon. I did it, but I have to say it was harder then I thought to balance on a balloon! I bought this wanting to improve, but I was not expecting all this FUN. I really love it! It's so easy on my joints — in fact when I use this in place of my step for aerobics DVDs, my knee pain is gone...for real! Unexpected bonus!!" —Kat

Get it from Amazon for $99.99+ (available in 11 styles).

    13. A set of exercise sliders, so instead of sliding into someone's DMs in 2020 you can focus on YOU and your fitness goals.

    Amazon, amazon.com

This is a prime example of something my gym has that I've always been too scared to try (for fear of quite literally falling on my face). The sliding technique used with this workout tool is great for building up your core — and actually looks kinda...fun? I'm gonna order a pair of these gliding discs to test out on my wood floors in the privacy of my own home. Who's with me?!

Promising review: "This seems like a simple idea, but I would never have thought of it. I like the ability to exercise arms, back, chest, and core in so many variations. You can cater movement based on how you position yourself and move the gliders; the nuance of movement is near limitless. I tried it on my hardwood floor, but prefer the easier gliding on carpet. I compare it to my ab roller and find it to be an interesting alternative. I can keep my hands with palms downward open flat or place my fists on it for slightly different stressing of the hand and forearm muscles." —Charlie

Get a set of two from Amazon for $10.97.

    14. An easy-to-use ab roller that'll work on any surface, so you'll have ZERO excuses not to give it a try.

It will strengthen not only your core (abs and lower back) but your arms, shoulders, legs, and entire body as well. In addition, it will give you an aerobic workout, because your heart and lungs will want to join in the fun!" —Whizzets

Get it from Amazon for $13.50+ (available in two colors).

    15. Exercise cards, so your workout will always already be laid out and waiting for you. Procrastination? I don't know her.

    Amazon

I always try to map out my exercise plan before I hit the gym, otherwise I'll idle around and wander aimlessly from machine to machine. I'm even more likely to waste precious time trying to find a routine to follow when I'm at home. These cards will solve your workout-planning woes immediately!

Promising review: "These cards are *amazing.* I love that I can schedule my workout week sensibly and safely — I really appreciate the tips on the backs of the cards! The calorie burn is accurate, if not a bit conservative. Lifting heavier will burn more, but the suggested burn is near perfect for lighter lift days. The HIIT and Core cards are such a nice bonus, too! My favorite part of this item is that I can do my workout at my pace without any annoying outdated music or chatting from a trainer, like you'd find on a DVD. I get burned out easily from repetition (as in, the same dry jokes or WOO! in a DVD), and have bagged MANY workout programs, but these cards are perfect for keeping me excited about my fitness!" —Lori McCarthy

Get it from Amazon for $19.97.

    16. A powder-coated kettlebell that'll have you singing "Burnin' Up" by the Jonas Brothers after one swing.

    Amazon, amazon.com

Don't believe me? Order one of these and give it a try. This seemingly harmless workout tool makes for a serious strength-training sesh.

Promising review: "This is actually a great kettlebell for the price. It's also much smaller than other coated kettlebells I have, so great space-wise. The handle is a perfect size for two hand grabbing, not all of my kettlebells are. I was worried the handle might not be smooth, but it is powder coated and has a great feel when I swing it. I'm going to order more before they disappear." —The Great Buzzwami

Get it from Amazon for $13.99+ (available in 5–50 pounds).

    17. An exercise ball, so you can work on your balancing act in between episodes of 90 Day Fiancé.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Exercise balls are a must-have for any home workout! You can use them to improve your core, for overall balance, alongside a Pilates video, and much more. Not to mention they're pretty fun to just bounce on.

Promising review: "I can't even begin to say enough good things about this stability ball! My back has gotten so much stronger since I started using it as an office chair for one or two hours per day! I work from home and my back had gotten incredibly weak, to the point that I could only walk 1/4 mile before the pain would get EXTREMELY bad and unbearable. After two weeks of using the ball, I can now walk 1 mile before pain begins — that is a HUGE improvement and has made an even bigger impact on my happiness and quality of life. I might add that it is REALLY fun to bounce on it! I having been having a ball with it (pardon the pun)." —Valerie

    amazon.com

Want more than just an exercise ball? Meet your new office companion — the exercise ball chair. I sometimes get really antsy at work and find myself bouncing around. I might as well be doing it in a chair built for that, right?

Promising review: "Sitting is killing us. Every week that headline is somewhere. This chair is so much more than a punchline on Portlandia. I have used it for over a year in my office job and I am an active 39-year-old male. Funny looks? Sure. But it's not for them, it's about my health and lower lumbar strength. For the first few weeks I had a 'regular' chair close by, to ease the transition. Now I wish that I could take my chair with me to client locations. We slump so easily. I used to 'sit' with my chair rolled all the way under the desk leaned back so that my butt and shoulders were the only thing supported. This balance chair forces you to sit up straight and support yourself. It forces you to pop up out of your seat. It will force you to strengthen your legs, back and shoulders. You will find yourself sitting more upright even when you are not using the chair. This chair is not for comfort. It is for you to get better." —Micah

Get it from Amazon for $59.11+ (available in nine styles).

Promising review: "I live by this iron gym. If you ever need a way to build confidence before embarrassing yourself at the gym with wrong form and two measly pull-ups, grind it out in your home and watch the improvement with this product. It’s affordable and very stable. I weigh about 205 lbs and it holds my weight perfectly! I started out doing maybe two pull-ups and I practiced and I’m now doing 20 a clip. I’ve done it and you can too!" —Marcus

Get it from Amazon for $29.98.

    21. A Series 5 Apple Watch that'll motivate you to exercise and burn a particular amount of calories each day (if that's aligned with your goals), but make it ~fashun~.

    Amazon

Promising review: "I love mine! I am still fascinated with checking my info frequently and it works to motivate me on sluggish days. I wasn't sure I could get 10,000 steps a day in so I set it to 8,000 steps a day but I am managing to exceed the 10,000 on most days as I am averaging more than that. I have started running in addition to doing my 2x/ week weight workouts and still occasionally doing my at home DVD workouts. It also helps to make sure I am drinking enough water (although this requires that you log in how much you drink). I love the reminders! It buzzes me to let me know when I have hit my goal and to remind me to get my 250 steps in per hour. I also can log what i am eating and I was surprised to see I eat more calories than I thought. I am not currently trying to lose weight as I am breastfeeding my baby so I am not worried about that for the moment but I do want to keep working out to get back in shape. This is great for motivation, for tracking so I can see how I am doing and then when I go back in the log I can see how well I have done." —Delia

Get it from Amazon for $116+ (available in two sizes and seven colors).

    31. A Peloton bike that'll allow you to experience live cycling classes in real time with an instructor without leaving your house.

    Peloton

I am SO interested in trying out one of these bad boys. I'm a sucker for the commercials and have even gone as far as downloading the Peloton app in an attempt to recreate the classes on a stationary bike at my gym — but it's just not the same as being in your own home. If you already own one of these bikes, can I come over and give it a go? Kthanks.

Promising review: "Peloton, you have taken things to the next level... so happy I have a variety of classes, not only spinning. I’ve owned my bike for two years and my only complaint (at that time) was variety beyond the bike. I now have a new love for bootcamp, running, strength, stretching and yoga, and of course spinning. We dropped our family gym membership just a month ago and we have dedicated space in our house to have our tread, bike, and free weights. This was a game-changer! Thank you for offering what we all need." —Anonymous

Promising review: "I'm in love with this bottle! Why? Because I only need to fill it ONCE and have my hydration requirements are met. The design is trendy, the motivational quotes help me stay on track AND it's pretty much portable. I'd recommend using the hand bar instead of the little rope thing because a full bottle IS HEAVY! Promising review: "I recently got a new road bike for the occasional weekend ride. As fun as that is, I wanted a way to use the bike indoors to maintain some level of cardio fitness for when work/weather/etc. gets in the way. This trainer meets those needs and is very affordable. Setup was a snap (there is a YouTube video instructional that I followed for setup, way better than the included instructions). The levels of resistance offer a wide range, so its great for long-distance or high intensity. It's a very cheap and practical way to get some indoor cardio as well as extend the usage of an existing bicycle. While I would probably consider a nicer fluid trainer if I was a 'professional biker,' most people aren't that, and just want a way to get a good workout without spending a fortune. For those people, this trainer is perfect." —Adam Goldstein

Promising review: "These weights are incredible – absolutely stunning! Such great quality too. I got them for walking and yoga but I think I am going to wear them everywhere! They are very comfy and soft to the touch. And I LOVE the packaging. They come with a free bag to carry them in. I am definitely going to buy more colors." —Jackie
