I'm expecting my first kiddo in April 2022 (eeeep!) and recently discover how daunting it is to figure out what exactly you'll need for your baby — not to mention the process of narrowing down which brand to go with!
Hopefully this lil' list will give you some inspiration and make your process a bit easier 😅.
1. FridaBaby's Baby Basics Kit, complete with all the odds and ends you'll need to unclog your tyke's stuffy nose, trim their nails, help them pass gas, and keep their skin nice 'n' soft.
As a soon-to-be new parent, I gag at the thought of using anything referred to as a "snot sucker," but the consensus has been that it's fantastic and a must-have for any parents' product stash.
Promising review: "If you are looking for a great baby shower gift look no further. This kit has been a life saver when it has come to my newborn. As far as the product 'Windi' is concerned, I thought wow I will never use this. Now I think the fart straw is the most handy product on the market with my colicky gassy baby. The head scrubber gently exfoliates. The snot sucker is way nicer than a bulb syringe. I have used every product in the kit and my son is still only 6 weeks old." —SP
Get it from Amazon for $34.98.
2. A shopping cart cover to create a barrier between your kiddo and all of the unseen germs lurking around — certainly can't hurt during *times like these* and will also prevent them from, literally, sucking on the cart itself (babies are wild).
Promising review: "Love! I was in the market for a nice shopping cart cover. My newest baby definitely is one that puts everything possible into his mouth, so a shopping cart cover was a must this time around. It easy to unfold and fold up. A little tricky to put on the first time but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. It seems to be fairly padded. Covers a standard Walmart cart thus far. I believe it will work for high chairs as well. I do wish it came with its own toys. I would definitely recommend for children that are comfortable sitting up on their own." —Alicia
Get it from Amazon for $28.49 (available in two styles).
3. A splurge-worthy Bugaboo Fox 3 bassinet and seat stroller set you'll pat yourself on the back for selecting once you realize how lightweight it is and how smooth it rolls along the sidewalk.
This is the main stroller we decided to go with — and not just because it's pretty to look at (shout out to the many color options!). It was extremely easy to put together and only took my husband about 30 minutes. It's simple to disconnect the bassinet (and I assume the same for the car seat) with the click of two side buttons. Overall it's very versatile and comes with a handful of useful accessories you can tack on to your registry as well! For example, I registered for the footmuff insert to keep my tyke nice 'n' snug during winter outings.
Promising review: "This stroller is an absolute dream! We used to have just a standard stroller with our first baby, and the wheels were SO loud and bumpy on any sort of crack, but the Fox 3 doesn't jolt or make any noise. It even handles grass easily too! I don't know how they do it, but it's amazing! We took the bassinet out for a stroll, and baby loves to look out the mesh windows — genius! The leather handles feel luxurious, it turns on a dime, and folds and stores easily too. I wish the instructions had some words to go with them, but we were able to figure it out and put it together rather quickly. I'm so glad we took a chance on this one. Worth every penny!" —JulieP
Get it from Bugaboo for $1,299 (available in six colors).
4. A high-tech baby swing featuring five unique motions and speeds as well as Bluetooth connectivity, so you can set your offspring up with the ultimate nap situation. Do they make this in adult sizes?
Promising review: "The fact that I am able to sit at my computer and write this review alone means this is worth 5 stars. My newborn has not slept without being held since we first brought him home from the hospital. He is currently asleep five minutes after putting him into the 4moms MamaRoo infant seat. I would have paid five times this price for him to be able to be soothed. Stop reading this review and buy this if you can afford to, if not mortgage your house, sell your car. It is worth it." —Sir Booga's Mummy
Get it from Amazon for $239.99.
5. A 72-page memory book for the ambitious parent who actually wants to make an attempt to take note of all their kiddo's milestones as they happen.
Promising review: "This book is well-made with thick pages and very cute artwork. It has monthly pages for the first year and pages for many first holidays. It has pages for hand- and footprints, various photo pages for mom and baby during pregnancy and lots of 'firsts' pages. It has extra pages for miscellaneous photos, an envelope attached to the rear book cover and a full blank lined page for additional notes." —C. Pollard
Get it from Amazon for $29.97.
6. A 3-in-1 Fridababy humidifier, diffuser, and night-light to (fingers crossed) help your baby's nursery achieve the *perfect* ambience for a looooong slumber (we're hoping for a full eight hours here...eventually).
Promising review: "This is the perfect humidifier for my daughter's room! The night light is perfect. It’s just enough light so that you can kind of see but not too bright to keep her awake! The humidifier lasts through the night but needs to be refilled the next day depending on what level of mist you have it on. I love it, what a great product! Thank you, Fridababy!" —LA Warren
Get it from Amazon for $49.99.
7. A Baby Brezza formula dispensing machine to mix and warm bottles for your little one — it'll make those middle-of-the-night feeding sessions a bit more bearable for everyone involved.

BuzzFeed editor John Mihaly swears by this gadget. He said:
"Listen, listen, listen. Without hyperbole, the Baby Brezza has been one of my best investments for year one in babyland. Late-night feeds no longer become about fumbling, spilling, mixing, warming, and minutes later delivering a so-so bottle to a crying child. No, in seconds a measured and warm concoction is in hand and then in baby's mouth. Just add water to the tank and formula to the dispenser and serve bottles ranging between 2–10 ounces warmed to three different temperatures. The time, effort, and stress this wonderful machine has saved me from is emotionally immeasurable and worth the price tag. It even forces you to clean it after every four uses because that formula gets gunky and you get lazy."
Get it from Amazon for $199.99+ (available in three colors or with a WiFi connection).
8. A Skip Hop play pen complete with a lil' entertainment center to settle the never-ending storms that seem to erupt from that tiny human you brought into the world.
This is on my registry as well! I liked that it had mesh instead of plastic (as noted in the review below) and that it seems like it can be used outside in the warmer weather as well!
Promising review: "If you have a climber, this is the baby yard to get. My 10-month-old feels that no walls should keep him and I disagree. With the mesh instead of the usual plastic on the walls, there isn't a place for them to put their feet on. Also the mesh provides a more open feel than the plastic. I am so glad I bought this (although the baby laments it)." —Keeks
Get it from Amazon for $162.
9. A robot vacuum with over 30,000 5-star reviews you can rely on to clean up your disaster zone of a home while you adjust to being a parent.
Promising review: "This is the first robovac I've had; I love gadgets and I wanted something to save me having to clean so often, especially now that I have a baby at home I wanted something that could help keep the floors clean and be affordable. This vacuum is definitely on the more affordable side of other robovacs. This robotic vacuum cleaner is so simple and easy to use, you just need to take it out of the box and clip on the little brushes, and it is ready to go. You can just set it to auto and off it goes bumping its way around your place. You use a small remote control to use the bot and with it you can access its added features, like 'spot clean' and 'edges' and 'single room.' Or you can just use the remote to move the bot around vacuuming wherever you want. It's not too loud and as long as it doesn't get stuck and start beeping, baby can sleep through its noise. Overall it's a great little machine that does a very decent job of keeping the floor clean especially since it means you don't have to do it yourself!" —al garcia
Get it from Amazon for $159.99 (available in black and white).
10. Expandable drawer organizers from Oxo, so when your kiddo ruins yet another outfit (it's inevitable) you'll quickly be able to grab an appropriate one to change them into.

Once I saw these existed I knew I had to have 'em for my little one's room. We bought him, as I like to call it, an investment dresser that he can use for many years to come — which means they have really big drawers right now! His clothes are super tiny, so I'm planning to use these to keep them organized in the larger space.
11. A caddy starring Mickey Mouse you'll easily be able to attach onto your stroller and fill with all the many things you'll need for an adventure outdoors with your little one.

Promising review: "Love this system, it’s been so useful. My daughter was already a toddler by the time I got this bag but it’s been amazing. We use the little bags for important items we don’t need all the time like hearing aid accessories, inhaler, and first aid kits. And the biggest bag for snacks." —Jessica Thorton
Get it from Amazon for $78.99 (available in four styles).
12. A set of teething toys made of BPA-free silicone to keep your baby company while they chew away and relieve some of the unpleasant feelings in their gums.
Promising review: "I love this teether. My son had four teeth come all at once and it felt like he was getting no relief. He ended up not liking to use most of the ones we gave him because his hands turned into little icicles. The silicone handles are so easy for him to grip, chew and most importantly keep his hands from getting cold. I love the four different gel shapes, all help with getting different areas of his mouth some relief." —Melissa F
Get a set of four from Amazon for $8.49.
13. A wooden walker little ones will love using as they learn to toddle about on their own — it also has plenty of room to store their fave toys for the ride.

Get it from Coco Village for $129.99.
14. A darling Delta Children bassinet with a celestial theme and features any tired parent will consider to be *~out of this world~*. We're talkin' soothing sounds, a night-light, a water-resistant mattress, and a large storage shelf.

My best friend (proud mom of an adorable 7-month-old) had this bassinet when her baby was first born and recommended having a few bassinet options (if possible) to scatter around the house so you're never stressed about where the baby can safely lay. This was one of the few she had and loved — especially because it has wheels!
Promising review: "This bassinet is the perfect space for our 8-week-old baby to nap during the day and to lie down when I'm busy in the kitchen or entertaining our 3-year-old! We keep ours downstairs for day time naps and to wheel around when baby wants to lie down but be close to me! It's easy to put together, a neutral color to go with every space, and baby loves it!" —Emily
Get it from Walmart for $47.94.
15. A 2-in-1 silicone feeder pacifier you can use to introduce your baby to new foods (yuuuum!) and help soothe painful gums (teething, fun!). You can fill it with frozen fruits, veggies, or milk and take a sigh of relief when you see how much your kiddo enjoys it.
The set contains two feeders, two large silicone teats, two medium silicone teats, and two small silicone teats.
Promising review: "This is amazing!! I am such a germ freak, so the mesh ones were not going to fly with me. The fact that this entire thing comes apart to sterilize is wonderful. Then add the different-size heads for it; great for those just starting foods. My little one has two teeth and absolutely loves this thing. We use frozen cut-up fruit and veggies and he goes nuts. Keeps him occupied for hours!! Definitely recommend. 😀" —Danielle Fox
Get a set from Amazon for $13.99 (available in two styles).
16. A brushed-cotton crib sheet that'll feel nice 'n' soft against baby's skin and match the ones you have and love on your own bed.

I personally own Parachute's sheets and can confirm you get what you pay for! The quality of everything I've gotten from this company so far has been absolutely worth it.
Promising review: "We love brushed cotton sheets for our own bed, so we got the matching crib sheet for our daughter's crib. The ochre color is so beautiful and fits perfectly with our color scheme. We've washed it a bunch and it's held up great so far." —Megan

When you subscribe you'll receive 192 diapers every four weeks, but you can update the frequency or ship date any time. Coterie's diapers are hypoallergenic, fragrance free, chlorine free, alcohol free, and paraben free.
Promising review: "We absolutely love these diapers! We've been using them alongside many other diapers and these are clearly superior. They fit extremely well and look really nice on our baby. They aren't saggy and they don't have random pictures all over them. Thus they look great under white clothes, too — our baby wears a lot of white onesies and the diaper patterns look horrible under there. These diapers also feel just wonderful, and downright luxurious next to the other diapers we've tried. We are really grateful for these diapers" —Daniel C.
Get a four-week supply for $94.50 or $85 when you subscribe (available in sizes NB–6).
18. A Halo Swaddle that can be worn in three different ways, guaranteed to keep your mini-me comfy and cozy at all times. Added bonus? You won't need to fret over learning how to flawlessly swaddle them before bed.

This swaddle is perfect from birth to 6 months, allows for easy diaper changes, and (most importantly) immobilizes their little arms so they can't accidentally scratch themselves.
Promising review: "Love these! Used them with my first and it was a lifesaver. It helped her sleep so much better that I always had several on hand just in case there were any accidents. I plan to use them again with my daughter when she’s born. Definitely a must-have!" —Timmons3516

In my forever on-going research about how to *try* to do this whole newborn thing somewhat right, I've seen multiple times that it's a great idea to pack at least two outfits to take your little one home from the hospital in. It's suggested to have both newborn and 0–3-month sizing on hand just in case! I love the gender neutral waffle knit options from 2sweetcheeks, a woman-owned small business based in Richland, Washington that sells super soft baby apparel.

So I just did the thing and ordered it. This piece surpassed my expectations! We have accumulated some nice pieces for baby boy, but he doesn’t have a single piece this soft. Promising review: "I got this chair in blue for our nursery. The room is small so we wanted a glider that wasn’t too large. The material has remained clean and new even after 20 months of extensive use. It is a chair that could go in any room." —Hannah

23. A cradle cap comb that'll remove dry skin from baby's scalp so gently they won't even notice — shoutout to the soft rubber bristles on this comb.
Promising review: "The pictures posted here are legit. It makes removal so much easier and gives more consistent removal than my previous method of washcloths or just scratching the cradle cap off with my fingernails. It’s amazing and gross and wonderful. My babe doesn’t even flinch when I spend 10 minutes clearing his scalp of all the goo. It seems to be soothing to him. I just apply baby shampoo, then brush a little with the blue brush. Then I slowly start to comb in sections all in one direction. Then I go back and forth in multiple directions. It’s shocking the amount of dead skin that comes off. I’ve even used it successfully in his eyebrows (he gets some cradle cap there, too). This is a KEEPER!" —ZMomUtah

Promising review: "My 2-month-old always cried during baths, I thought she was the only baby who hated bathtime! I bought these sponges because she has cradle cap and wanted something soft enough to use on her head but strong enough that it’ll get rid of the cradle cap. Well, I ended up using the sponge on her whole body and this was the first time she enjoyed bath time! I think she didn’t like the feel of the rags I was using but likes the sponges instead. The size of this tub is perfect, big enough that my 3-year-old fit in it (when he insisted on trying it out) but small/compact enough that its not obnoxious to store. If you have a standard size bathtub, there is plenty of room to hang this on a suction hook inside the tub to store (and this Skip Hop tub has its own storage hook to make this simple to do). It works great with the breathability of the blanket (he likes to rub it on his face) and the satin trim. Will likely be buying another one so if it's lost we will have a spare!" —Maureen DeWitt

40. An aesthetically pleasing play gym you can count on the please Millennial parents who have primarily registered for neutral colored items (ahem, me).

If only our parents understood we don't want over-the-top, brightly colored items in the nursery. Sigh. This adorable play gym also comes with an option to add a tent so your tyke can play with it for years to come!
Get it from Lalo for $135+ (available with or without the tent attachment and in four colors).
41. A washable rug, so when your mini-me inevitably spits up or pees on the carpet in their nursery you'll be able to pop it right into the washing machine.
My baby's room is going to be a mix of space/Disney decor, so this rug was the perfect addition. It seemed like a no-brainer to me after realizing I could literally wash it at anytime without having to scrub stains away by hand. They have a ton of Disney rugs and Star Wars rugs that might be perfect for you baby's room!
Promising review: "I love this rug so much! It’s perfect for kids and pets and it’s so easy to keep clean. I actually use it where my kids eat and it hasn’t gotten stained at all. 100% would recommend!" —Ashley C
Get it from Ruggable for $99+ (available in 10 sizes and 3 styles).
42. A postpartum recovery kit and upside-down peri bottle you might not want to admit to yourself you'll need, but you'll definitely pat yourself on the back for adding to your registry.

I've been told by numerous parents that this kit is an absolute must-have. I'm personally not excited about it (who would be???) but have already caved and made sure I have all of these items ready to go. The set comes with 4 pairs of disposable underwear, 4 instant ice maxi pads, 24 witch hazel cooling pad lienrs, a perineal healing foam, and a toilet-top storage caddy. You'll need to purchase the peri bottle separately, but from what I've seen on TikTok (and heard first hand) it's a non-negotiable item you'll want on-hand.
Promising review: "A friend sent this to me two days before I gave birth. I ordered it overnight and had it in time and I’m so glad I did. The products in this kit were significantly better than what is provided by the hospital. The cold pads are heaven after a vaginal delivery. The witch hazel pads and foam get exactly where they need to get. This is my third child so I know exactly what it means to be without this kit. I will gift it or recommend it to any and all pregnant women I know." —Martha
