Given his position in Russian history, there are several statues to Vladimir Lenin around the Russian Federation dating back to Soviet times.
They're a popular site for photos. A 30-year-old man was inebriated, according to local reports, when he decided to take a selfie with a Lenin statue in Prokolevsk, in the Siberian region of Kemerovo.
Much like the peasants during the Russian revolution, the result of his actions were not quite what the man was hoping for. And Lenin wasn't quite as hearty as he seemed.
According to a law enforcement source, the man was caught after trying to fix the statue, when his fingerprints were discovered on a nearby beer bottle. He's apparently been "brought to justice," so kudos to Russia's version of Sherlock Holmes.
It remains to be seen whether breaking the statue — which local children had already broken before — will invoke some sort of Communist curse on the man. But so(viet) far, if there is one, it's stall(in) its response.
