    The Broadway musical is getting adapted into film!

    So basically this new Mean Girls will be a movie based on a musical based on a movie based on a book.

    And as any fan would do, of course I'd start imagining who's gonna play who.

    I've come up with a list of people I'd want to see cast in this Mean Girls musical movie. It took me a lot harder not to recast the whole original Broadway cast and the cast of Heathers.

    Janis Ian: Lilla Crawford

    Let's start from the narrator of our amazing musical. In all honesty I would never cast anyone else aside from Barrett Wilbert Weed, but Lilla, I think, would make a great Janis. She's appeared in Disney's 2014 adaptation of Sondheim's Into the Woods as Little Red Riding Hood, and she also landed the titular role of Annie in the 2012 Broadway revival.

    Damian Hubbard: Ben Platt

    Who doesn't love Ben Platt? He has an amazing vocal range. His stage presence is out of this world. He is the OG Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen. He was a dorky acapella singer in Pitch Perfect. He was also Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon. There's nothing unlovable about him.

    Cady Heron: Laura Dreyfuss

    She's most famous for bringing the character Zoe Murphy from Dear Evan Hansen to life. She's also appeared on Glee and The Politician. She has amazing vocal chops and the stage presence to be Cady!

    Regina George: Dove Cameron

    There's no way you've never heard of her. She's Sophie Sheridan in the Hollywood Bowl production of Mamma Mia!. She's Cher Horowitz in the off-Broadway Clueless: The Musical. She's Amber von Tussle in NBC's Hairspray Live!. She's also Liv and Maddie in Disney's Liv and Maddie and Mal in Descendants.

    Gretchen Wieners: Naomi Scott

    Naomi Scott served her pipes through breakthrough role as Jasmine in Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin. She was also in Charlie's Angels and Power Rangers.

    Karen Smith: Ariana Grande

    I believe I don't have to introduce her anymore. She's a Grammy-winning artist, one of the world's most influential and successful singers, but she started her career on Broadway. She was the original Charlotte in Jason Robert Brown's 13, starring alongside Elizabeth Gillies and Graham Phillips. Her most recent return to musical theater is the role of Penny Pingleton in NBC'S Hairspray Live!.

    Mrs. Heron/Ms. Norbury/Mrs. George: Laura Bell Bundy

    Okay, to be honest my first choice would be OG Regina George a.k.a. Rachel McAdams, but since this is a musical, I'm gonna go with my second option: Laura Bell Bundy. Her stage credits span from being the original Amber von Tussle in Hairspray to Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

    Aaron Samuels: Ryan McCartan

    You may know him as JD from Heathers: The Musical. Maybe you recognize him from Liv and Maddie. Or maybe you've seen him in The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again. On top of all that, he was also Fiyero in Wicked and he'll be the new Hans in Frozen.

    Kevin Gnapoor: Avan Jogia

    We all know and love Avan Jogia since he was in Victorious, starring alongside Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, Elizabeth Gillies, Matt Bennett, and Daniella Monet. He'd be the perfect Kevin for the new movie.
