Here’s Which Cookie Dough Has The Most Chocolate Chips

Seriously, who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies?

But everyone knows the difference between a good chocolate chip cookie and an amazing one is the amount of actual chocolate.

It's all about those melty little chips.

So, we set out on a public service mission to find out which popular brand of store-bought dough contains the most chips.

These were the contenders:

* Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

* Immaculate Gluten-Free Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough

* Joel's Outrageous Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough

* Sweet Loren's Wholegrain, Non-Dairy Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough

* Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

(We used the standard-sized packages, which varied slightly in weight, but we accounted for this in figuring out the results).

We put each cookie dough through the same two-step test.

Step #1: Separate the chips from the dough, by hand.

This sounded simple enough, and it was fine with doughs that used bigger chunks of chocolate.

But, it got pretty tedious pretty quickly. Don't try this at home unless you have baby hands.

Seriously, look a those teeny tiny little chips!

Operations soon moved from a civilized table top, to the cold hard floor.

But, we persevered.

Step #2 was to weigh the chips on a kitchen scale.

Making sure to zero out the bowl first for an accurate reading.

Then, we turned on our ~math brains~ (ie. googled how to calculate a percentage) to figure out the results.

Since the cookie doughs weighed different amounts, this was the best way to determine the winner.

Turns out, it was a pretty tight race. Sweet Loren's wholegrain, dairy-free dough has the highest chocolate percentage, but the others weren't far behind.

Really, this is excellent news. Most store-bought cookie dough brands are created pretty equal when it comes to how much chocolate is inside.

So, whether you buy organic, gluten-free cookies or good ol' Toll House, no one is really missing out on the good stuff (🍫🍫🍫).
