Tell Us The Scariest Urban Legend You Were Told As A Kid

Nothing will ever be as scary as the Green Ribbon story.

When you're a kid, there's nothing like sharing scary stories.

But some of these stories are SO scary that they stick with you over the years.

Warner Bros.

What's the scariest story you were told or read as a kid? Was it the story of the girl who hid the fact that her head wasn't attached to her body with a green ribbon?

Was it the "Humans Can Lick Too" story, where the protagonist thinks their hand is being licked by their dog only to realize their dog is dead/in another room?

Or maybe the urban legend "Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light?" about a girl's roommate being brutally murdered without her realizing it?

Or was it some entirely new tale you've never been able to find online or in a book?

For example, my dad used to tell us all about "Purple-Eyed Sarah," who was abandoned on an island by her parents to die. Her ghost would moan "Mommy, daddy," which my siblings liked to say in a scary voice around me to creep me out.

Now it's your turn! Tell us the scariest urban legend or scary story from your childhood and you could be featured in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post!
