TV and Movies·Posted on May 23, 202023 Teen Show Hairstyles That Are So 2000s It HurtsBandanas, crimped hair, and butterfly clips, oh my!by Hannah MarderBuzzFeed StaffFacebookPinterestTwitterMailLink 1. Jen's bangs on Dawson's Creek Fox She HAD to have cut these herself, right? I mean, we've all been there, but...these are something else. 2. Summer's bandana on The O.C. Fox Look, Summer was a fashion icon and this lewk is no exception. Tired? Bandanas. Wired? Designer silk bandanas. 3. Pandora's pigtails on Skins E4 We ALL had our pigtail days. It's just...most of us had ditched them by high school. I think my personal favorite here has to be that crazy crimped look she has in the third picture. 4. ...Whatever is going on with Sabrina's hair here on Sabrina the Teenage Witch ABC I feel like 2000s hair was just making random tiny ponytails and securing them with glittery barrettes. 5. And here, with Lizzie from Lizzie McGuire Disney Channel This one is honestly impressive, because I truly do not know how it was created. Is that a braid coming out of the top of her head? How did her hair get so spiky?? Are we supposed to believe Lizzie did this by herself?? 6. Lucas's bleached hair on One Tree Hill The CW Men are not exempt from horrible 2000s hair!!! 7. And Pacey's frosted tips on Dawson's Creek The WB You're better than this trend, Pacey. 8. Lola's hats on Zoey 101 Nickelodeon Luckily my head is too big to wear hats so I never committed this atrocity. I *am* impressed with her commitment, though. 9. And her colored streaks Nickelodeon I ASKED MY DANCE TEACHER IF I COULD HAVE BLUE HAIR FOR COMPETITIONS AND SHE SAID NO so I never got to have awesome streaks like Lola. HOWEVER, I did have feathers in my hair. The 2000s were truly a different time. 10. Summer's weird gelled updo from The O.C. Fox Why were we OBSESSED with plastering our hair to our head, and then fanning out the ends of our hair around our crown?? 11. Brooke's prom updo in One Tree Hill The WB What is that one random piece that's curled onto her cheek??? Why did she create a side bang swoop when she didn't have side bangs?? The world will never know. 12. Sabrina's butterfly clip hairstyles on Sabrina the Teenage Witch ABC You didn't think I'd do this post without mentioning butterfly clips, did you?? After the random ponytails and crimping, pulling back the front of your hair into a bunch of butterfly clips was THE 2000s trend. Honestly, I kind of miss this one. 13. Amy's side bangs on The Secret Life of the American Teenager ABC Family I feel like this show singlehandedly inspired an entire generation to get side bangs. THEY NEVER LOOKED LIKE THIS, THOUGH. Never. 14. Miranda's pom-pom elastics on Lizzie McGuire Disney Channel She 100% got these at Claire's. I know because so did I. 15. Katie and Emily's red hair, bangs, and bow barrettes on Skins E4 Why was this hair color SUCH a thing in the 2000s? I'm also ashamed to admit that I owned at least a dozen bow clips and headbands. Don't act like you didn't. 16. Lola's wigs on Hannah Montana Disney Channel Wasn't Lily pretending to be some socialite named Lola?? I feel like a socialite would not buy 12 of the exact same wig we all had from Party City. 17. Lizzie's randomly crimped pieces on Lizzie McGuire Disney Channel My favorite part about this hairstyle is that only a few pieces are crimped, and they're only crimped at the root, middle, and end. Plus it seems like she randomly curled two pieces, too??? 18. And Sabrina's crimped hair on Sabrina the Teenage Witch ABC Honestly? This looks kind of good. I'm not even mad at it. 19. These bobby-pinned side bangs Sabrina had on Sabrina the Teenage Witch ABC We LOVED bobby-pinning side bangs across our foreheads. I particularly like how some of the strands are inexplicably combed over the clip. 20. Whatever this was that Miranda was trying on Lizzie McGuire Disney Channel I don't even know where to look. The braids? The beads? The teasing? There is so much going on here. 21. Miranda's fake orange hair on Lizzie McGuire Disney Channel Those bright fake-hair scrunchies still haunt me. They were so plasticky and always got all tangled in my hair. 22. Zoey's brown and blonde hair on Zoey 101 Via Nickelodeon For some reason that defies explanation, Zoey had brown hair underneath a top layer of blonde. This was a total thing in the 2000s, and I really do not know why. 23. And finally, Nate's bangs on Gossip Girl Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF The CW If you had hair like this in the 2000s, I 1000% had a crush on you. Ah, these take me back. I might even buy some butterfly clips! As for the rest of the trends...good riddance.
