Ahhh, New York, New York. It's the city that never sleeps, and also the city where you can get your hands on a dollar slice at any time of night. This foodie paradise is home to bagels and lox, pastrami on rye, black-and-white cookies, and everything in between. From Michelin-starred tasting menus to bodega breakfast sandwiches, in NYC you can have it all.

You'll find your culinary heaven in the Bay Area, where a mishmash of cultures have created an eclectic and delicious restaurant scene. San Francisco offers far more than California cuisine, too. You'll find some of the best tacos and burritos north of the border, Italian food that rivals what you'd find in Tuscany, and savory soup dumplings from the largest Chinatown neighborhood outside of Asia.

In recent years, Chicago has become one of — if not the single most — impressive food scenes in the US. The city boats everything from casual bites (think: deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs) to some of the most lauded, upscale restaurants in the country. So whether you want to drop a small fortune on the tasting menu at Alinea or chow down on an Italian beef sandwich at Portillo's, Chi-town has got you covered.

When you imagine the food scene in the Pacific Northwest, you probably think of Portland. But the hip city of Seattle deserves its place in the spotlight. Seattle is home to amazing ethnic food from Vietnamese pho and Korean fried chicken to Chinese dim sum and Indian tandoori. Foodies will find their happy place among the hundreds of stalls at Pike Place market. Just don't miss the legendary clam chowder.

Some people visit NOLA for Mardi Gras, but the real reason to visit the Big Easy is for the food. Southern comfort food meets French Creole flavors in some of New Orlean's most iconic dishes like etouffee, jambalaya, and muffuletta. You'll find everything from formal white-tablecloth restaurants serving oysters and Sazerac cocktails to hole-in-the-walls dishing out oyster po' boys and fried chicken. Whatever you do, save room for Cafe du Monde's world-famous beignets.

New Orleans, Louisiana

If you associate Austin with beer and barbecue, then you'd be right...but this progressive and lively town also boasts a much more eclectic food scene. In addition to world-famous barbecue brisket, you'll find inventive tacos and queso, fried chicken and biscuits, perfectly crispy Neapolitan pizza, slurpworthy ramen, and epic doughnuts.
