This Quebec Nationalist Says He Will Laugh At Scotland If It Votes “No”

The leader of a Canadian political party that supports independence for Quebec said Quebecois were worse off for voting No in two independence referendums of their own.

The Quebec political party Option nationale shared a video of its leader, Sol Zanetti, urging Scots to vote Yes in this week's independence referendum.

Standing in front of a tidy bookcase, to a soundtrack of tremulous violins, Zanetti warns in the video that Quebecois lost power and adequate funding for health and education after voting No.

He says Quebecois were “promised so much, especially just before the vote”, including money and additional powers.

He says that before one of their referendums, there was a parade and everything.

Here's an #IndyRef game: Whoever can listen to this man saying "oh, how they loved us" 10 times over, without blushing or cringing, wins.

Then he gets serious. "Vote No like we did, and you will be the laughing stock of the world. And of me," he says, hitting Scotland right where it hurts.

Zanetti's party received just 0.73% of the vote in the 2014 general elections in Canada and holds no seats in parliament.
