When your younger self thought about getting older, maybe a few obvious milestones came to mind: advancing in your career, having a nice space to call your own, finding your perfect partner, and maybe even having kids.
But there are plenty of other, less monumental, moments in life when you realize you're not quite as young as you used to be.
Maybe you went to a bar with some friends and couldn't stand the loud music, so you asked the bartender if they could turn it down. Then, after one glass of wine, you felt your eyes drooping and decided to call it a night. You got home and realized it was only 8:30, but decided to crawl into bed anyway. That's when you realized that your days of dancing at the club until 3:00 a.m. were behind you.
Perhaps you went grocery shopping and decided to splurge on some junk food and soda. After downing a Mountain Dew and half a bag of gummy worms, your heart started racing and your stomach began violently churning. You then realized your tolerance for sugar was not at all what it used to be.
Or maybe you gathered with your extended family for a holiday and got to see all your cousins, nieces, and nephews. They started talking to you about Hype House and things they consider to be "cheugy," and you didn't understand a single word they said. You realized you were officially too old to sit at the kids table, poured yourself a glass of wine, and retired to the adult table.
