This Is Everything That Happened In The Seventh Week Of "Love Island"
Anton's mum is the real winner this series.

Josie: Thankfully we’re nearing the end of Love Island 2019. I’ve loved almost every second of the drama, but I’m also ready to go back to my normal routine where I don’t have to factor in an hour of TV at 9pm. Like they say, if you love something, set it free.
We’ve still got lots to see though — from the lie detector test, to meeting the parents, and the baby challenge. I’m hoping they don’t sack any of those challenges off this year because otherwise, I’ll give up watching. I’m of the opinion that while they obviously need to have some sort of conclusion - e.g. someone winning - the last week is definitely the most boring.
My prediction is that Molly-Mae and Tommy will take the crown and obviously split the 50k. TBH, I’m kind of hoping that someone will steal the prize money just for the added drama.
Hani: Like Josie, I’m also looking forward to the end of the series. Yes, I live for the drama, but rushing home to watch it every evening is dedication. I have no idea what will happen over these last couple of weeks, but I imagine the lie detector will leave some of the most harmonious couples in tears.
I know Molly-Mae and Tommy are favourites to win, but sorry, their relationship is such a snoozefest. Part of me thinks that Ovie could win regardless of who he’s coupled with, and he deserves the whole 50k TBH.
The saga of Michael:
Josie: I stan Joanna. Due to the editing of the show, it always seemed to me that Joanna was under Michael’s shadow and to an extent, Amber’s, so I never really felt that ~connected~ to her. But my god, did she change that on Monday night. After being brutally voted out by her fellow Islanders, she then had to listen to an increasingly smug Michael saying he’d found what he was looking for, BUT THEN fall silent when everyone was expecting him to say that he was going to leave with her. No wonder the girl finally let her feelings be known. I really respect her for calling Michael out — why bother staying in the villa if you’ve supposedly found what you’re looking for? Yes, it might be a free holiday, but if Michael had any sense, he’d know that his reputation and story arc would benefit from leaving the villa on a positive note and from “finding love” which is the whole premise of the show. You’re not going to win the 50k Michael, so you should probably see yourself out.
Michael then proceeded to dig himself further into a hole by rudely telling Amber to “sit down” so he could talk to her. After Ovie (bless you Ovie, I love you) then pointed out to Michael that he wouldn’t want someone talking to his sister like that Michael decided to “apologise” to Amber by telling her that he was sorry she felt that way, rather than...you know, just apologising for the way he was talking to her. That and then telling Amber he actually does like her is what I would call a true mindfuck. Long story short, poor Fran was then forced to couple with him — I loved that she made it pretty clear she wasn’t interested in the slightest and clearly thought he was a dick.
I used to really like Michael, but he finished his time on the show by proving he’s a bit of a smoke and mirrors kind of guy. They’re nice to you for a quick minute, before then turning into something else, but everyone remembers the niceness and is so shocked by the sudden change that they continue to look at them with rose-tinted glasses.
Hani: Okay, so I’m not the biggest fan of Joanna, but she deserves better than Michael. Her voting out was kind of heartless – I don’t really understand the point of us voting if the islanders then go on to vote for their faves. Michael’s speech was ridiculous, in fact, all his behaviour was ridiculous. He clearly wanted to have his cake and eat it – he should have left the villa if he found exactly what he was looking for. And don’t get me started with how he treated Amber – how dare he play with the heart of the nation’s fave like that? It’s just chaldish really. Since Casa Amor, Michael’s behaviour has been a perfect demonstration of how to fumble the bag – he was right on track to win that 50k, and he really messed it up.
I’m so glad that Amber didn’t fall for Michael’s games – waiting for another guy to show interest before saying your true feelings is honestly a dick move. I actually yelled with happiness when Amber picked Greg – I love a girl who knows her worth. I felt sorry for Fran, but I was so happy to see her drag him. I’ve never really seen anyone on TV do such a 180 personality turn – he started off as a loveable rogue, and he seems to have completely imploded.
The newbies
Hani: Now, I don’t think that Greg is Amber’s type on paper, but he’s exactly what we needed in the villa. He seems like a good old fashioned guy that you take home to meet the parents, and Amber deserves a nice guy after all the shit Michael put her through. Harley… I don’t have anything against the girl, but she’s giving me strong Noughties Big Brother vibes for some reason. India seems alright, but I’m very protective of Ovie – she better not break his heart. I feel kind of bad for these last minute entries – I’d really feel like leftovers if I auditioned for the show and they put me in in the penultimate week.
Josie: Thank the lord for Greg — if he hadn’t come in Amber would have recoupled with Michael and we’d all be forced to continue watching him be a dick for the last week of the series. He seems like a bit of a gent and while I don’t think him and Amber are a true match, I’m glad that someone has bolstered her confidence once again. Harley won’t be my favourite islander of all time but I don’t see much harm in her — plus, if she means that Chris stays, I’m all for her RN because I think I’ve started to harbour a thing for Chris. India, meanwhile, is probably the smartest person in there — she’s bagged Ovie, who is the quite best man in there and therefore more of a prize than the 50k.
Jordan and Anna take the next step:
Hani: Okay so, I really like Jordan, he seems like the sweetest guy, but saying he wants to make Anna his chick?! Come on Jordan, we all know Anna wouldn’t appreciate that. I understand what he was trying to do with the whole romantic tour of the villa thing, but it just made me realise that I don’t care about Anna and Jordan’s relationship to watch it for more than two minutes. It’s weird because I love watching Anna and Jordan separately, but I think their relationship is missing a certain je ne sais quoi. As a side note: I really don't understand why everyone jumped in the pool after Jordan and Anna got together – what in the High School Musical was going on?
Special shout out to Anton's mum on After Sun:
Josie: I don’t usually watch After Sun purely because my bedtime is 10.30pm. Got to get those 8 hours in! But this morning. I woke up to a tonne of messages about Anton’s mum’s appearance on the show last night so knew I had to watch. She is most definitely the life and soul of any party. You can just tell that she hosts a great BBQ where you all end up dancing on tables and drinking shots of limoncello or something until the wee hours of the morning.
Hani: This was the first time I’ve watched After Sun, but my appetite for drama hadn’t been met, so I tuned in. Well, I came for Joanna and Michael, but I stayed for Anton's mum. She was TV gold – from the way she answered Caroline to her heckling of Michael – I loved every second. I honestly cannot wait for the meet the parents' episode – she’s gonna be so messy!
