Ayesha – 3B/3C hair.

1. Pre-poo treatment: Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil, which is said to promote hair thickness.

Sunny Isle / Amazon

Ayesha: This is used before I shampoo my hair, hence why it’s called pre-poo, and I try and saturate my hair with it.

Price: £13.99

2. To cleanse: Holy Curls Shampoo. The unique formula is packed with natural properties including baobab oil, coconut oil, and yucca plant extract, which means your hair won't dry out when it's getting squeaky clean.

Holy Curls

Ayesha: I try and soap it down and get it as sudsy as possible, and sometimes I even shampoo twice. Holy Curls smells great – it’s vegan, and gets my hair really clean without feeling too dry.

Price: £18.00

3. For conditioning: Big Hair Deep Conditioning Clay Mask, which is full of hydrating ingredients, including Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, banana, and avocado oil.

Big Hair

Ayesha: When I use this I make sure my hair’s not soaking wet but damp, because if it’s too wet it will just drip out and waste the product.

Price: £20.00

4. To moisturise: Big Hair Milk Leave-in Moisturiser. The formula's lightweight, non-greasy, and penetrates the hair strand – what more could you want from a leave-in?

Big Hair

Ayesha: This smells good and I section my hair and finger detangle with it.

Price: £16.00

5. To define: Big Hair Curl Defining Créme Gel, which gives a light hold without any crunching or flaking.

Big Hair

Ayesha: Once it’s conditioned I want to seal it because I use the LCO method.

Price: £19.00

The results!

Hanifah – 3C hair.

6. To cleanse: Aphogee Deep Moisture Shampoo, which is pH balanced and enriched with humectants to avoid any stripping of moisture.

Aphogee / Amazon

Hanifah: I find this really cleansing for both my scalp and strands – it’s great for getting rid of product build-up.

Price: £9.78

7. For conditioning: ORS Hair Mayonnaise, which is designed to replaced any missing protein and is great for thin or damaged hair.

ORS / Amazon

Hanifah: I’ll leave this on for about 15 minutes and then detangle my hair with a wide-tooth comb.

Price: £8.00

8. To moisturise: Aphogee Pro-Vitamin Leave-in Spray which nourishes the hair without weighing it down.

Aphogee / Amazon

Hanifah: I use this straight after I rinse the conditioner out so that it seals into the cuticle.

Price: £9.99

9. To moisturise: Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-in Conditioner – the formula is specifically designed to smooth down the cuticle of wavy, curly, and kinky textured locks.

Kinky-Curly / Black Hair Care

Hanifah: This is really moisturising and thick so I mix it with water to give it a bit more slip. A little bit goes a long way.

Price: £19.99

10. To define: Eco Styler Olive Oil Styling Gel which we all know does exactly what it says on the tin – great hold without dryness or flaking.

Eco / Amazon

Hanifah: This gives me a medium hold without any flaking or crunchiness.

Price: £6.99
