1. We all know that the US adaptation of The Office was hilarious. NBC It took all the greatest aspects of the original and made it its own. 2. But the American version of Skins really didn't translate. Like, at all. MTV I've seen enough glossy American teen dramas to know that 16-year-olds getting wasted at squat raves are just too gritty for a US audience, and it did not work. 3. Ocean's Eleven is so good that you might not even know it's a reboot. Warner Bros. Pictures The original lineup included the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr, which is a tough act to follow, but George Clooney and co really did it justice. 4. It wasn't awful, but no one asked for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and we could do without it, tbh. Warner Bros. Pictures Johnny Depp channeled Gene Wilder's eeriness, sans the charm. And why was his hair like that? 5. Queer Eye kept the essence of the original, but had all the right ingredients to bring it into the modern day. Netflix It's no longer just for the straight guy, and it's even heartwarming than before. 6. The US version of The Inbetweeners, on the other hand, chewed up and spit out any essence the original series had. MTV Again – stop trying to equate the British teen experience into the American one, it's not going to happen. 7. One Day At A Time is the perfect example of how to bring an old sit-com into the 21st Century. Netflix This show took a premise that worked back in the day and made something that's a thousand times better than the original. 8. Though it's technically a continuation, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life showed us that some things are best left in the past. Netflix We get it, they wanted to fix all the mistakes that the final season made, but THIS WAS NOT THE WAY. And what was the musical sequence? So much no. 9. The 2016 Jungle Book showed a new side to the classic story, and real-life Mowgli was even cuter than the cartoon. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Look at that face! 10. But all The Lion King did was show us that live-action lions aren't as lovable as cartoon ones. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Even Beyoncé couldn't save it, sorry guys. 11. The revamp of Doctor Who is way better than most thrillers, tbh. BBC If a sci-fi show is loved by the original stans and newbies, you know it's good. 12. This goes without saying, but the 2017 version of The Mummy just didn't need to be made. Universal Pictures It's a reboot of a reboot that doesn't have Rachel Weisz and stars Tom Cruise – throw the whole movie away. 13. I'm sure I wasn't the only one that was left confused after seeing the Watchmen movie, but the TV series has all the answers. HBO It's got character development for days and Regina King is unreal. 14. But after seeing the 2014 TMNT movie, all I can say is: Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and Donatello – I'm so, so sorry. Paramount Pictures This is by no means the biggest issue with this reboot, but these are full-grown mutant ninja turtles. Who let this happen? 15. But it's safe to say that the remake of The Parent Trap is a modern-day masterpiece. Buena Vista Pictures As was Freaky Friday. Pre-Beach House Lohan was the queen of great reboots.
