This one feels totally ridiculous, right? But a pub is technically a public place, so if you’re [drunk and disorderly in one](http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Vict/35-36/94/section/12/1991-02-01?timeline=true), you could get a penalty.

Real!

Yup, according to the [Salmon Act from 1986](http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1986/62/section/32), it is against the law for a person to handle the fish in suspicious circumstances. The law doesn’t state exactly what counts as suspicious circumstances, but it was put into place to reduce salmon poaching.

I made this up, but she probably doesn't appreciate it.

According to the [Metropolitan Police Act](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-36389585), it is against the law to walk along a London pavement with hoops, ladders, and planks to prevent any nuisance in the street.

You’d better cancel any knock-down ginger plans, because [according to the 1854 Act,](https://www.legalally.co.uk/weird-british-laws-that-still-exist/) it’s completely against the law to ring a doorbell without an excuse – you can get fined up to £500 for it.

If you've ever been stuck in a British traffic jam you should know that this one is fake.

[Since the 1839 Act,](http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Vict/2-3/47/section/60) in the Metropolitan Police District it’s against the law to shake a rug, carpet, or mat out on London streets after 8am, so you better save all your rug shaking for the early hours of the morning.

Uh oh, you really don't know the law of the land! Better brush up on those legal books before you get yourself into trouble!
