Jake Gyllenhaal has opened up about Heath Ledger's death in an emotional interview with People magazine.

In the interview, Jake talks about the friendship he formed with Heath while shooting Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and how his death changed his perspective on filmmaking.

"Personally, it affected me in ways I can't necessarily put in words or even would want to talk about publicly."

"I think you live in this bubble, too, of making films. There are real friends, and there is a real community," he says, going on to explain that since Heath's death he has come to understand that the relationships actors make while filming matter so much more than the attention the film gets or its success.

Jake also told the interviewer that Heath's passing gave him the sense that "this is fleeting", noting how young they both were when they worked together.
