Get those smashed avo cravings satisfied.

We asked Australian blogger Liz Lyons, creator of Breakfast In to tell us about her favourite breakfast spots in Perth.

1. Piccolo's Corner, Leederville

This place is home to one of my absolute favourite avocado smashes. Given that their pumpkin smash is also delicious, I think it would be fair to say that they are

the smashed-breakfast food experts of Perth.

2. May Street Larder, East Fremantle

Ice cream for breakfast. I could stop there, but I should probably give you more detail than that. These guys do a delicious Coco Whip breakfast bowl and are a must-visit if you’re near Freo.

3. Tropico, North Beach

The banana bread at Tropico is something else. This coastal café serves up the

goods every time.

4. Studio 37, Fremantle

If you love jaffles then this is the spot for you. While they specialise in toasties, they also serve up a brilliant cup of coffee.

5. Flora & Fauna, Northbridge

As the name suggests, Flora & Fauna aren’t scared of the occasional edible

flower. The dishes are beautiful to look at, generously sized, and most importantly are delicious. The French toast is a masterpiece.

6. Chu Bakery, Highgate

You can’t sit down at Chu, but there's a beautiful park opposite the bakery that is perfect for a picnic breakfast. They do toast with various toppings (the avocado and feta combo is unreal) and the yummiest croissants, sweets, and bread.

7. Layup, Northbridge

This place hasn’t been around for long, but they definitely know what they’re doing. If you need to treat a hangover, try the house-baked English muffin with spiced sausage, bacon, egg, and Wisconsin cheddar.

8. Harvest Espresso, Victoria Park

Harvest Espresso are small but mighty. The cafe is incredibly inventive with what they serve up. Expect everything from strawberry shortcake to roasted eggplant on the menu.

9. The Coolroom, Fremantle

This quirky café is tucked away in the residential part of Fremantle. It serves up the very best haloumi bruschetta I have ever tasted, and is my first stop whenever I arrive back in Perth.

10. Pixel Coffee Brewers, Leederville

Pixel is another newbie doing good things in the breakfast world. I love the acai bowl as it's nice and crunchy, and the avo smash and nourish bowl are also really good. Be sure to save room for a slice of house-made cake.

11. Sayers Sister, Northbridge

An icon of the Perth brekkie scene, Sayers Sister is the sister café of the equally revered Sayer’s café in Leederville. The menu features dishes like candied bacon and peanut butter waffle sandwich, and liquorice infused pear with chocolate mousse. It's a total gamechanger.

12. Good Things, Mosman Park

These guys deserve their name. The brekkie menu is damn good and their location, a five minute drive from the beach, makes them the perfect post-beach brunch spot.
