Meet Bruschi - The Dog With The World’s Largest Eyes!

4 year old Boston Terrier Bruschi holds the Guinness World Record for “dog with the largest eyes” - each one measuring a whopping 28mm in diameter! Here are the top 10 facts about this record-breaking dog.

Bruschi is a 4 year old black and white Boston Terrier, who lives with his owner, Victoria Reed, and her other Boston Terrier, Toby, in Texas USA. He holds the Guinness World Record for “dog with the largest eyes” - measured by a vet to be 28mm in diameter!

Victoria didn’t really notice Bruschi’s superlatively large eyes at first - but after friends, family, and even his vet commented on how large they are, she made an application for a Guinness World Records title on his behalf - which quickly led to the title he now holds.

Bruschi gets on wonderfully with his buddy Toby - “They love each other: they play together, sleep together… do everything together”.

Unlike Toby though, Bruschi is a very energetic and attention-seeking dog - “He’s up and down, jumpy, hyper, always by my side twitching and wiggling. He always snorts… it’s so loud you can hear him in another room, or when you’re on the phone with someone - I usually can’t hear the tv either!

Other dogs certainly notice Bruschi’s extraordinary eyes, and even seem intimidated by him on occasion. “He will growl a random dogs, maybe he’s ‘saying don’t laugh at me’

Bruschi loves to play, and his favourite toys are balls, especially tennis balls - “He could play fetch for hours, it gets to the point where I have to put the ball up out of reach because he wont stop playing and is out of breath!

Bruschi LOVES dressing up, and particularly enjoys wearing t-shirts, and bandanas. He has an overflowing bucket full of different outfits in his home.

Bruschi had a very worrying medical scare one night in 2011, when one of his eyes popped out of it’s socket! Fortunately a local vet was able to patch him up, and he is now perfectly healthy - though he cannot see directly in front of himself, he has only peripheral vision.

Bruschi was adopted from a rescue centre in August 2009. Abuse by his previous owner has led him to suffer from inflamed intestines, meaning he can now only eat bland food and treats. But he is safe and happy in his new home with Victoria.

While picked on by some for his unusual appearance, owner Victoria feels he’d be delighted if he fully understand the Guinness World Records title he holds: “I honestly feel like he would be really happy about it… some people do make fun of him for his looks, but I think he would go up to them and say: ‘Haha look where I am now, I’ve got a record for my looks!’
