Top 5 College Halloween Events

Ok, so it might be time for college students to retire from good ol' trick or treating, but that doesn't mean they're too old to celebrate in spooky style! These 5 college campuses make our list for the top 5 Halloween traditions.

1. Ohio University’s Block Party

On Halloween, Ohio University has a huge block party where everyone is in costume. It’s a party where students and visitors go to celebrate with live music, food trucks, and art vendors!

2. Georgetown University’s Screening of The Exorcist

A Halloween classic, The Exorcist, was partially filmed at Georgetown. Ever since, students gather on Halloween to watch the movie and walk down the stairs that were used in the movie. What a creepy way to spend the night!

3. University Of Rochester’s Scare Fair

The University of Rochester takes their haunted house game very seriously. Every year they turn the Rush Rhees library into a haunted house and host a school wide scavenger hunt. To add a whole new level of spook, they even feature live animals!

4. MIT's Pumpkin Drop

A physics contest on Halloween?! What else would you expect from a place like MIT. Students gather in a semi circle under the Green Building (aka the tallest building in Cambridge) and watch as hundreds of pumpkins fall. The pumpkin with the biggest splash possible (by calculating the best velocity and speed) - WINS! If you're ready to nerd out on Halloween, head on over to MIT and smash some pumpkins.

5. Harvey Mudd College’s Halloweiner

Take a trip to Harvey Mudd College for their gigantic Halloween BBQ. They cook hundreds (yes, hundreds) of pounds of meat for the entire student body. Hamburgers and hotdogs instead of candy on Halloweeen?!! Ok. What college student doesn't LOVE free food!!
