Road Trippin' In Namibia: Four Highlights

If you are looking for a great adventure, in a country with more wild animals than people, Namibia is the place to be. During my roadtrip through Namibia last year, I was thoroughly amazed by the changing landscapes, traditional communities and majestic wildlife. If you ever find yourself in this beautiful country, please don’t miss out on:

Posted on

1. Waterberg Plateau National Park

This private game is often overlooked, but it’s the perfect start of your Namibia roadtrip. Wildlife sightings are guaranteed and getting up close with wild rhinos is something else - especially when you are literally standing three meters away from them. After a long day in the park, all you need is: chairs, a bonfire, South African wine, good music and a sky full of stars. Period.

2. Etosha National Park

The largest national park in Namibia is an oasis compared to its South African counterparts and was one of the highlights of our trip. Sleeping in rooftop tents while being surrounded by wild animals; nothing’s going to compare to it. More importantly, the number of tourists is negligible and the possibilities within the park are endless. A must-do!

3. Damaraland

The epic pursuit of Mad Max: Fury Road has been shot in this area and it’s safe to say that the actors weren’t disturbed by traffic jams. Namibia’s Damaraland is one of the most isolated areas of southern Africa and you can cruise around for hours through the deserts and mountains, with not a single car in sight.

4. Namib-Naukluft National Park

Imagine sitting on top of a 200-meter dune in the middle of the Namibian desert, enjoying the sunrise with two of your closest friends. I can assure you, there is no better way to start Christmas morning, nor to end a roadtrip through one of coolest and safest countries in Africa.
