Victorian woman Emily Jayne Collie, 20, was killed when her jet-ski collided with another ridden by her boyfriend in waters off Phuket, Thailand, on Sunday.
Now her grieving 22-year-old boyfriend Tommy Keating looks set to face charges over her death.
“[Keating], who was driving the other jet-ski when they collided, will face charges of reckless driving causing death," Patiwat Yodkhwan from the Karon Police told Phuket News.
Keating told police that intense sunlight reflecting from the sea made it impossible for him to see Collie's jet-ski.
Collie suffered severe injuries to her neck and shoulders and died at the scene.
“Her parents are coming to Phuket to collect her body and they are expected to arrive on Wednesday," Yodkhwan said.
"I'm so broken and I know I'll never, never be able to mend," Keating wrote in a Facebook tribute to his girlfriend of 18 months on Monday night.
"I'll always be your boy and you'll always be my girl!"
One woman, who said she was present at Kata Beach when Collie died, commented on his post.
"Hey Tom. You don't know me but I am the girl who was by your side at the beach yesterday," the woman wrote.
"I just wanted to say that I am so sorry for this great loss you have to go through. Can't stop thinking about it and it will be in my mind for the rest of my life. I really hoped that she was going to make it."
