9 Songs Whose Lyrics Are Now Dead And Gone

With the revelation that Lauren Bacall's death now made Madonna's "Vogue" completely done (the list of her celebs are all dead), it sheds light on other songs with "dead" subjects

1. KIM CARNES "BETTE DAVIS EYES"

Not only is Bette Davis name dropped, so is Jean Harlowe & Great Garbo...all dead.

2. GRANDMASTER FLASH "THE MESSAGE"

ABC's now-defunct soap opera "All My Children" and bank robber Pretty Boy Floyd are dead. Luckily, boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and the night time soap opera "Dallas" are still alive.

3. SUGAR HILL GANG "RAPPER'S DELIGHT"

Well the Lincoln Continental stopped production in 2002. Children's show "Scooby Doo" is long gone. Late night host Johnny Carson is deceased, as well as DJ Frankie Crocker. Perry Mason and Farah Fawcett are also mentioned on the extended version.

Bonus: They do mention "checkbooks". Can we call that dead??

Nelly's own clothing brand "Vokal" makes an appearance...before it disappeared in 2005.

6. BARENAKED LADIES "ONE WEEK"

Composer Bert Kaempfert died in 1980. X-Files was cancelled long ago. "Sailor Moon" sailed off in 1997.

7. BILLY JOEL "BIG SHOT"

Roy Halston died in 1990. New York's Elaine's closed in 2011 after being at 88th and 2nd for 48 years.

Note: Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start A Fire" is basically all done. But featuring it would have made me put all the lyrics.

8. TINA TURNER "PRIVATE DANCER"

Germany's former currency Deutsche Marks were replaced by the Euro in 2002.

9. DON McLEAN "AMERICAN PIE"

James Dean, Vladimir Lenin, and Karl Marx are all name dropped in this tribute to the tragic deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper in a plane crash.
