At the beginning of every year, pop music and radio is flooded with new and emerging artists trying to get their craft out to the world. Some have huge independent following, some released these songs in the past year, and some are literally releasing the music as I'm typing this. Regardless, these songs are making their impact. Get to know these artists and their songs now..

1. AMINE "Caroline"

"Caroline" has been out for nearly a year, but stations are starting to pick it up. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Aminé is a 22 year old ready to take on the rap scene!

2. CALUM SCOTT "Dancing On My Own"

Calum was a contestant on the 2015 edition of Britain's Got Talent, placing 6th overall in the competition. He released his remake of Robyn's 2010 dance hit in 2016 and gained success in the UK first. Towards the end of 2016, US radio started to pick it up, as well.

Captain Cuts is a trio from Los Angeles, California. One of the members, Ryan Rabin, is the drummer of GroupLove, famous for their song "Tongue Tied". The group also helped bands like Walk The Moon on "Shut Up and Dance", as well as producing and writing the current Bebe Rexha smash "I Got You".

Based out of the UK, Catfish & The Bottlemen have been touring for a couple of years including performing in Lollapalooza. Rock stations in the US have started picking this song up as it's popularity grows.

Grandtheft is a Canadian DJ. Delaney Jane is a Canadian singer/songwriter. Together, they make easily one of the most addicting new songs of 2017! if you have not heard this song yet, check it out now!

Jacob was a contestant on X-Factor here in the USA. He hails from Knoxville, Tennessee and over the last few years has been featured by Radio Disney and Spotify. His 2016 release "Focus" has picked up steam coming into 2017. Jacob is also wildly popular on Twitter having over 2.1 million followers and is currently touring in Europe.

7. JAMES ARTHUR "Say You Won't Let Go"

James Arthur was the winner of 2012's X-Factor in the UK. James is no stranger to controversy which you may not know of. LGBTQ groups were in an uproar when he said a homophobic slur in a mixtape. He also fanned more flames when he had lyrics that suggested deaths to families. After admitted to drugs and depression, James recently became an ambassador for a mental health charity in the UK. This song is currently nominated for single of the year at the upcoming BRIT awards.

8. JUDAH & THE LION "Take It All Back"

Another Tennessee band...this time from Nashville. The group has been around since 2014 and was recently announced as the opening act of Twenty One Pilots' tour.

Julia is originally from Iowa but moved to California when she was younger. You may not know her name until now, but she's been writing songs for some of your favorite artists like Demi Lovato & Fifth Harmony. Judging by the edgy lyrics of her singing debut, she'll be around for a very long time.

Machine Gun Kelly (also known as MGK) first started releasing singles in 2010 but it wasn't until he teamed up with ex-Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello on this track that people noticed his music in the mass media. MGK is known for being the ex-boyfriend of Amber Rose.

Starting out in Texas, Maggie moved out to Los Angeles as she started to gain recognition on social media with her music. Her first radio single, "Pretty Girl", was released in 2016 and a remix has recently been released.

Jeremy Lloyd & Samantha Gongol make up this duo from Pennsylvania that has been thrown into the spotlight when this song was used in Apple's newest commercial for their Air Buds.

13. MIGOS & LIL UZI VERT "Bad and Boujee"

Migos is a group out of Georgia. They've been on the scene for a while, even racking up controversial incidents involving marijuana usage which ended up leading to arrests for inciting a riot. You can read more about the incident here. Thanks to their role in the TV hit "Atlanta" and the popularity of internet memes with their lyrics, "Bad & Boujee" became their first commercial hit.

Neiked is a Swedish producer. Dyo is an amazing singer that hails from London. Together, they've masterfully created a top 5 hit in the UK that is starting to get some notice here in the USA.

Another Swedish DJ, Nevada has brought back the 90s hit "Return of The Mack" with it's original singer Mark Morrison and included hip hop star Fetty Wap, who adds an extra layer to the song. The song is now starting to gain traction in the USA, where the original hit Top 3.

16. NOAH CYRUS & LABRINTH "Make Me (Cry)"

Cyrus? Yes, folks. Noah is the younger sister of Miley and Trace Cyrus. That makes every Cyrus sibling a hit maker (Trace is a part of Metro Station, who went top 10 with "Shake It"). The younger sibling has teamed up with hit-maker Labrinth in this unique duet.

Samantha Ronson (yes, Mark's sister and Lindsey's ex) has a new group formed from the Los Angeles area called Ocean Park Standoff. The group is currently touring and this song is primed to be a hit, especially with recent events. Not gonna lie, I kinda wanna just chill with Samantha, Ethan, and Pete.

Oh Canadaaaaa......Canada's R&B star PartyNextDoor has a Grammy nomination for his duet with Drake called "Come and See Me", but his 3rd album's second single "Not Nice" is starting to get heard more and more on radio.

Starring as Maya Hart on Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World", Sabrina has been able to explore her acting chops, singing chops, and gain national exposure. Her first true pop single, "Thumbs" is masterful. Check out the lyrics to the second verse, which gives the 17 year old an amazing platform to speak about social issues with her fan base. Now that GMW has been cancelled, we sure hope to see more of Sabrina!

Australia has given us Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Olivia Newton-John, The Veronicas, and Keith Urban. Well we are now being introduced to Starley. Starley lead single is "Call On Me", which has already gone top 10 in 8 countries. It's just beginning in the USA, but Starley should fair well!
