Even though they haven't set foot on their alma mater's campus since they graduated fifteen years ago, aren't in touch with anyone from their college days, and don't know any players from the current roster, they are risking their pride by making their university's team their #1 pick. You'd almost feel bad for them if you weren't also happy to win.

2. The Cinderella Chaser

Most people fill out their bracket by simply looking up "good bracket picks" on the internet, but if you want to win, you need to take a chance on a low-seeded team making it past the first round, aka a "Cinderella" pick. But there's always one person who picks SO MANY Cinderellas, making for a very crowded pumpkin carriage. Sure, if all goes according to plan, they're gonna win, but if it doesn't, they're gonna be left holding a bunch of glass slippers after the ball.

3. The Copycat

A masterful troll move. This person hones in on that one player in your bracket pool who knows their stuff, and essentially chooses every single pick as them...except for the final round, where it's a 50/50 shot at winning the pool but a 100/100 shot at peeving the person they copied off of.

4. The Mascot Stan

This person has decided that the true value of a team is in the company they keep — basically how cute their mascot is. From the first time this person saw their team's mascot jump off a trampoline and through the net, or perform the current viral dance challenge, they knew this creature was a leader of people, and would inspire its team to go all the way.

5. The Dancer With Chance

Once the seeds were announced, this person embraced the chaos, predicting each matchup with a flip of a coin. There's no sports journalist alive who doesn't revere Lady Luck, so this person figures she's a good ally to have for this bracket.

6. The Inspired Baller

Watching all these games is giving this person ideas. Remember when you used to go out back and shoot hoops? Man, that was fun. Actually, they have a ball back at their place if you want them to get it? You don't have to play for real, maybe just a chill game of HORSE? They have shorts you can borrow too! This person will pick whatever team has one player that they think kinda looks like them to go all the way.

7. The System Haver

Around bracket-making time, this person will start acting...very odd. When you ask them about their behavior, the only explanation you'll receive is "I have a system." The pouch of crystals they carry all of a sudden? The system. Calling you in the middle of the night to ask you for your astrology sign? The system. The web of red string on their wall connecting players with gods of the Greek pantheon? It's all part of the system, man!

8. The Vigilant Viewer

This person will very confidently fill out their bracket, and then proceed to watch every single game in the tournament to make sure it goes how they predicted it to go. Their face is constantly glued to their phone, checking scores. When you go over to their house, every surface is a screen with a different game on it like a surveillance room. When you start to do the math in your head, it appears this person has watched more games in the tournament than are even possible. Are they watching games from other dimensional timelines? You decide not to ask.
