On May 8, 1945, the Allies of World War II formally accepted the surrender of Nazi Germany's armed forces, marking the end of World War II in Europe.

Seventy years later, photographer Jonathan Andrews revisited the sites where Nazi forces had established their defensive positions against Allied troops on their mission to liberate Europe from tyranny.
