We Tried Popular Pinterest Fashion Hacks And This Is What Happened

*rubs banana on shoe*

Hello, we are Farrah and Chrissy. We enjoy browsing Pinterest for life hacks, but sometimes we find a pin that makes us say, "WTF, will that even work?"

Basically, shit like this:

We decided to make it a VERY IMPORTANT MISSION to see if certain fashion hacks from Pinterest *actually* worked, so we set out to debunk the most popular ones.

Basically, with just a capful of baby shampoo, a lil' water, and some serious patience, you're supposed to be able to unshrink clothing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You'll need: baby shampoo.

Add a capful of baby shampoo to a sink filled with lukewarm water. Let it soak for a few minutes to ~loosen da fibers~, and then gently squeeze out without rinsing.

Then, lay the garment flat on a large towel and roll it up to soak up the extra moisture. Here's the hard part: You have to stretch the clothing back to its original size as it dries.

Disclaimer: It may take hours to dry. Sorry. WE NEVER SAID IT WAS EASY.

Here's how it turned out:

By just rubbing a crayon on a zipper, it's supposed to free it instantly. We have a jacket pocket that has been stuck since January, which is crazy-annoying, so don't let us down, Pinterest. We'd really like to have that dang pocket back.

You'll need: a crayon.

The directions were simple: Color the teeth on both sides with a crayon. That part was easy, despite getting crayon dust everywhere. We added a thick coat because we figured the more wax = the more easily the zipper would glide.

Buuuuuuuuuut that wasn't exactly the case:

We flipped the pocket inside out to assess the situation and saw the zipper was caught on the jacket material. We tried pulling the material out of the zipper and ALMOST BROKE A NAIL in the process. But when we tried again, VOILÀ. It was finally free!

Here's how it turned out:

Listen, we were pretty excited when we found this hack. We sweat through pores on our bodies because we are human, OK?! We have a ton of shirts that we avoid wearing because they're tight in the armpits and therefore, they end up absorbing all our sweat. (Sorry — our ~glistening body water~.)

You'll need: a panty liner for each underarm.

For this hack, you place a panty liner on the inside of the armpit part of the shirt. It went on easy and stuck to the shirt really well, but you can definitely tell you have something under your armpit (because obviously you do). However, it's not SUPER annoying.

PS: It's 85 degrees in LA today, so it's a good day for this experiment.

Here's how it turned out:

Apparently, if you tape your third and fourth toes together with tape, it'll alleviate any pain from high heels. We call B.S.

You'll need: nude medical tape.

Here's the entire hack: Tape your third and fourth toe together. That's it. You're done.

*shivers at the sight of feet*

Welp, we put on the heels, walked around for five minutes, and our feet IMMEDIATELY STARTING HURTING. This hack is 100% absolute trash.

(Get it? 'Cause it's in the trash? K bye.)

Apparently you can use just a razor to bring those god-awful pill-y sweaters back to life.

You'll need: a razor.

All you have to do is lay the clothing on a flat surface and gently shave the pills off the fabric, making sure not to cut any seams.

Here's how it turned out:

For this hack, you're supposed to take straight-up vodka and spray it all over smelly clothes to make 'em clean. Sureeee. *side-eye*

For this hack, pour some vodka into a spray bottle...

...and then spray it all over your dirty-ass clothes.

Here's how it turned out:

When we first saw this hack on Pinterest, we LOL'd because really, we literally cannot fathom how a piece of white bread will take away a lipstick stain. That shit clings. But we'll see — maybe we'll be surprised.

You'll need: white bread.

Again, the directions for this are very simple. First, roll your white bread into a ball and then start dabbing away.

Only a very small portion of the stain came off and most of it was still left on the shirt.

How it turned out:

This hack will not fucking work. Like, we're 99% sure it is bogus, but we're curious, so let's try this thing.

What you'll need: a banana peel.

The hack says to rub the banana peel on a very scuffed part of the boot, and what the hell, the scuffs slowly disappeared the more we worked at it.

Here's how it turned out:

Once the boots dry, the scuffs are 100% apparent again.

Now go forth and get your shit together, bbs.
