18 Hidden Details In "The Good Place" Finale That Prove This Show Deserves All The Awards

Damn, this show is too good.

In case you didn't know, The Good Place has officially reached its final chapter. Because I'm not a ginormous dingus, I wanted to give you a heads up that THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS. You've been warned.

me before, during, and after the good place series finale

    1. First, this eagle-eyed Twitter user points out that Michael's dog is named Jason and he's wearing a bowtie the color of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

HE GAVE HIS DOG A BOWTIE BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WEAR HIS SUITS ANYMORE AND HE MADE IT THE COLOUR OF THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS BECAUSE THE DOG IS NAMED AFTER JASON HE HAS THE PUREST SOUL #TheGoodPlace

    2. Another Twitter user pointed out that Michael lives in apartment 12358, the first five digits of the Fibonacci sequence.

    MICHAEL LIVES IN APARTMENT 12358 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 #TheGoodPlace

    3. You might remember that Michael's experimental neighborhood in The Good Place contained the Fibonacci sequence, often referred to as "nature's universal rule."

    NBC

    4. Also, Michael lives in Blatta Vista. Blatta is a genus of cockroaches — a clear reference to Team Cockroach from Season 2!

    NBC

    5. Michael lives in apartment 322, which could possibly be a reference to the number of people in the original Good Place neighborhood.

    NBC

    6. Tahani receives a peacock bow tie as a gift from Michael. It's the very same one he wore in the first episode.

    NBC

    7. This might not come as a huge shock, but when Chidi and Eleanor are in France, we spot a sign that lists Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoirs, who were philosophers.

    NBC

    8. Reddit user LutzExpertTera pointed out that Michael takes down the framed photograph of Doug Forcett in his office and replaces it with his favorite humans.

    NBC

    9. The sign for the coffee shop that Michael visits pays homage to his sign that he created in the experimental Good Place.

    NBC

"You are going to be fine." Why am I crying????

    10. Also, the writers and art department always collaborate beautifully on the signage, and I actually LOL'd when I zoomed in to see what this said.

    NBC

    11. This Twitter user points out Michael's human surname is Realman.

    HE’S MICHEAL REALMAN ICONIC #TheGoodPlace

The ad also states that it will be collecting your data. "Fun!" Welcome to the real world, Michael!

    12. And this Twitter user pointed out the symbolic nature of Eleanor's sweater stripes. (Kristen confirmed it!)

the stripes on her sweater are the six of them. 😭 #TheGoodPlace https://t.co/fxW9WQStGq

Here's our best guess: Jason is teal (like the Jacksonville Jaguars), Janet is purple (like her iconic outfit), Chidi is green (because green signifies "good" in this show, and Chidi was the first to teach them about philosophy), Tahani is orange (a lively color for a lively person), Eleanor is pink (a color she wore a lot), and Michael is dark blue (like his suits). What's your guess?

    13. Michael's guitar teacher (Guitar Mary) is actually Mary Steenburgen, his wife in real life! AWWWWW.

    NBC

    14. Twitter user @melindaqiaolian pointed out all the subtle wave references to Chidi's emotional speech.

    15. And this Twitter user points out that Chidi and Eleanor wear similar patterned button-ups on their last day together.

Chidi and Eleanor wear matching clothes for their last day together. I’m not forking crying 😭 #TheGoodPlace

    16. On Earth, there's a quick shot of Michael celebrating a new year as a human. The art behind him depicts the neighborhood he created in the Good Place.

    NBC

(Here's that alleyway with the string lights for reference!)

    17. When Eleanor and Janet sit on the bench before she steps through the door, we see that Janet's still wearing the necklace Jason gave her.

    NBC

    18. D'Arcy Carden (Janet) is also wearing it in the interview that immediately followed the finale!

    NBC

What a forking good series. If there's anything we might have missed, let us know in the comments!
