In a previous post, I wrote about the many different reasons millennial women chose to hold off on getting married or starting a family or decided to do neither.
The reasons included wanting to be more financially stable first, wanting to have a more established career before bringing children into the mix, or simply wanting freedom to do things in life without worrying about someone else.
The responses to that post inspired another question I have on the same topic for the BuzzFeed Community: For those who did wait to have children later in life, are you happy with your decision or is there anything you wish you did differently, had your circumstances been different?
Maybe you were waiting to have children until you met the right partner. Then you realized you could be a parent regardless of whether you were with someone, and now you wish you hadn't waited so long.
Perhaps you were waiting to be more financially stable, but you didn't realize when you were younger that you were as financially stable in your career as you were ever going to be.
Or maybe you and your partner wanted to enjoy married life for as long as you could, so you chose to have kids later — but now you're struggling to enjoy retired life because your younger children are not as settled as you'd want them to be.
Whatever your reasoning is, this is a safe space! I'm someone with parents who are slightly older than is typical, so this topic hits close to home for me. Since there are so many opinions about it, I'd love to hear some of them.
