Everyone From Jessica Alba To Chloe Morello Swears By This "Dot" Makeup Hack, And After Trying It, I Absolutely Do Too

    I'm obsessed.

I think I'm not alone when I say that I love any hack that makes my life easier — especially beauty ones. While I love doing my makeup and all that comes with it, there's no denying that it's a time-consuming task!

However, I recently discovered probably the easiest makeup hack to ever exist and now I'll never apply my everyday makeup any other way. The backstory: while scrolling through Instagram one day, I saw Jessica Alba with dots of makeup all over her face that needed to be blended.

The hack is dotting on multiple types of liquid or cream makeup — foundation, concealer, contour, bronzer, and blush — all at once. Then you generously apply setting spray to all of it, which is supposed to dampen the products enough to easily blend them all out. The hack avoids having to apply layers on top of layers of makeup which can look cakey and take up more time.

It sounded simple enough so I of course tried it out myself. Here's how it went!

Step 1: The key to this hack is to use cream or liquid products and for the first step, Chloe advises applying all your products at once by applying dots in the areas those products would typically be applied.

I applied dots of my cream bronzer, concealer, and blush where I normally would if I were to apply each product on its own.

Step 2: Once the makeup was applied, I followed Chloe's direction of spraying setting mist all over my face to stop the products from drying out so I could easily blend them.

Step 3: Chloe said to blend the lightest color — the concealer — first. I used a brush to blend the concealer that was on my face. Then I took a damp sponge to blend the concealer around my eye area.

From there, I sprayed some more setting spray before blending the next lightest makeup on my face which was my blush. I spritzed a little more spray before blending out the last of my makeup, which was the contour.

I went back in with my damp sponge to make sure everything was blended nicely and there weren't any awkward lines of makeup on my face.
