6. Stranger Than Fiction (2006)

11. Beginners (2010)

Featuring: Ewan McGregor as Oliver Fields, a young man who grows closer with his dying father (Christopher Plummer), who came out after the death of his wife.

Fun Fact: Beginners is based on the real-life experiences of director Mike Mills, who is married to Miranda July, writer and director of Me and You and Everyone We Know.

14. Young Adult (2011)

Via Paramount Pictures

Featuring: Charlize Theron as Mavis Gary, a divorced, 30-something ghost writer of a series of soon-to-be-cancelled young adult novels, who goes back to her hometown to win back an old flame, who happens to be happily married.

*Also, Patton Oswalt as Matt Freehauf, a former classmate of Mavis's, who enjoys brewing his own booze and playing with action figures. He's like the "voice of reason" for Mavis.
