5 Unusual Healthy Foods That Actually Taste Good

Some of these foods (or drinks) taste so good that I wouldn't want to go back to living without them. Try them out:

Posted on

Frozen Grapes

These frozen balls of delight taste absolutely amazing... almost taste like popsicles or even candy. It's very easy to get hooked on these, so be careful not to eat too many in one sitting, otherwise you might find yourself rushing to the toilet. Who knew just putting food in the freezer can make it so amazing.

I now freeze all my fruits before eating them - bananas, mango cubes, watermelon.

Pro tip: Frozen grapes can be put in your wine to keep it cool. Also frozen grapes and bananas are excellent with icecream.

Kimchi

Kimchi, often referred to as the national food of Korea, is a dish of fermented vegetables often containing cabbage, Korean radish, and sometimes cucumber. Due to it's fermentation, kimchi contains healthy bacteria and probiotics much like yoghurt has.

The benefits of eating Kimchi is that it facilitates digestion, improves body immunity, prevents several diseases including cancer, lowers cholesterol and aids in weight loss.

The popularity of this dish is certainly increasing, but back in the days, I'd be made fun of for eating this dish in school.

Beet & Berry ‘em Smoothie

Via smoothierecipes.com

Go grab yourself a juicer and start making smoothies yourself. There's so many different combinations of ingredients that it will allow you to put your creative mind to work. 'Juicer Cruiser' has a great guide on choosing the right juicer whilst you can find guides on making smoothies at 'Smoothie Recipes.'

One such recipe is the 'beet & berry them' smoothie. This one takes a different approach and uses a 'root vegetable' (beetroot), something which is usually considered gross for a smoothie.

Hummus

About the Souffle / Via aboutsouffle.tumblr.com

A lebanaese dip that's childishly simple to prepare. It's usually made with mashed chickpeas, sesame seeds, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Hummus tastes very creamy with strong pea flavors and lemon/garlic flavors. Even if you dislike chickpeas, there's a good chance you'll like this dish.

Pro tip: You should flavor your hummus to avoid getting bored of it.

Looking for an alternative? Try 'Baba Ganoush.'' It's certainly the less popular dish, but a healthier alternative.

Portobello Mushroom Pizzas

Love pizza, but don't want to feel guilty eating them? Try this out.

Mushroom pizzas are a surprising treat. Although they probably won't taste as good as normal pizzas, they actually come close and are an excellent substitute for pizza (the only one that worked for me).

The good news? They can be made in 30 minutes and you can put whatever ingredients you want on them.
