19 TV Characters Who Got Happy Endings They Didn't Deserve

    Where is the justice?!

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about the TV characters who they felt got waaaay better endings than they deserved. Here's what they said:

🚨MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING 🚨 for all of these shows.

    1. Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones

"Tyrion was my favorite character during the first four seasons because he was so clever and entertaining. But after teaming up with Daenerys, he became extremely one-dimensional and his IQ just seemed to drop. Despite all of his mistakes in Seasons 7 and 8, he ended up as Hand of the King, getting one of the best endings in the series when so many other characters got screwed over."

    2. Negan from The Walking Dead

"The guy is basically a fascist cult leader. He came on the scene killing people by bludgeoning their skulls, and torturing, maiming, and completely controlling everyone around him. He even melted a guy! But people are hot for Jeffrey Dean Morgan, so he gets to become one of the main good guys? I still hope Negan meets a slow and gruesome end."

    3. Regina Mills from Once Upon a Time

"She murdered hundreds of people and actually admitted she felt zero guilt over it. She blamed everyone else for her decisions and only 'changed' when it served her interest. She also kept Graham as a sex slave for years before murdering him, and no one ever seems to mention that."

    4. Ross Geller from Friends

"I know a lot of people loved him and I’m glad that Rachel got her happy ending, but seriously, he sucked. He was so controlling, anti-gay, and the way he acted with Rachel's boss was outrageous. Like I said, I’m glad Rachel ended up happy, but it should’ve been with someone else."

    5. Dan Scott from One Tree Hill

    The CW

"His redemption arc was bullshit, IMO. Just because a little kid can see the good in you does not dissolve years of wrongdoing. I think what bothered me most about his arc wasn't that he became 'good,' but that Nathan forgave him for MURDERING HIS BROTHER IN COLD BLOOD. Dan should NOT have gone out like a hero."

    6. Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl

    The CW

"Dan Humphrey definitely did not deserve a happy ending. After everything he did to his 'friends' when he was Gossip Girl, Serena just took him back and everyone just forgave him?! NOPE."

    7. Fleabag from Fleabag

"She spent both seasons of the show being a complete and utter dickhead to everyone around her and ignoring the boundaries the priest tried to set with her (even though he was also to blame). Instead of facing any repercussions at all, she and her sister got closer than ever and she was invited to her dad's wedding! She never changed and she kept getting good things. Infuriating!"

    8. Eli Pope from Scandal

"This man was the WORST. He manipulated his daughter for years, threatened her all the damn time, and there was that little incident when he ordered the murder of a teenager. When I saw him and Olivia having dinner like a normal family in the series finale, I lost it."

    Evelina Z.

    9. Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones

"Sansa suffered, sure, but she kept making big mistakes. She told Tyrion about Jon Snow’s heritage, and she almost let Jon die during the battle with Ramsay. She started out as a thoughtless, selfish, spoiled brat, and in the end, she was still a thoughtless, selfish, spoiled brat except she got to be Queen!"

    10. Walter White from Breaking Bad

"He destroyed everything he touched, and yet his final plans went off without a hitch — even his own death. He shouldn’t have had it so easy in the end. No way."

    11. Angela Martin from The Office

"As much as I love The Office, Angela did not deserve a happy ending. I support Dwight being happy in the end because he grew over the series, but Angela was just as rude, mean, judgmental, and self-centered in the end as the beginning. When she got a happy ending, it was undeserved."

    12. Mona Vanderwaal from Pretty Little Liars

"She would go back and forth from being a character we were supposed to root for and sympathize with to a character who bullied and tortured the girls. Her mental health issues aren't an excuse for hitting Hannah with a car, trying to kill all the other liars, and actually killing a person. Then she got her own spinoff? Ugh."

    13. Hordak from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

"Hordak did NOT deserve redemption! I understand that he changed his mind, but he didn't do enough to redeem himself to have a happy ending."

    14. Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries

    The CW

"I’m honestly still pissed that he ended up with Elena. Sure, he loved her. But he also killed MANY innocent people (including Elena’s own brother), he fed her his blood so she would become a vampire even when she didn’t want to be one, and didn't care about anyone other than Elena most of the time. He was just not a good person at all, and Elena should have ended up with Stefan."

    15. Olivia Pope from Scandal

"Olivia Pope absolutely didn't deserve a happy ending. I have never rooted against a character so hard. I really thought and still think the only way to have ended that show properly was to kill her off. She just did too many awful things."

    16. Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl

    The CW

"I’ll admit that the way that they wrote his character in the later seasons made me sympathize with him, but the fact that the writers completely disregarded all of the despicable things he did at the beginning didn't redeem him. He tried to rape two girls, sold Blair for a hotel, slut-shamed and publicly humiliated her, and was an overall terrible human being. None of that should have been forgiven."

    17. Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City

"I realize that she is supposed to be the protagonist, but she just sucks so hard. She doesn’t really have any growth and remains selfish and reckless throughout the series. In fact, I think she gets worse with age."

    18. Rumpelstiltskin from Once Upon a Time

"He was manipulative, abusive, and always double crossing everybody. I know he was the Dark One and that affected his behavior, but when given the chance to give up those powers, he decided to keep them even though they made him evil. He was a fun character, but I felt like his redemption arc was forced and rushed."

    19. And finally, Michael Scott from The Office

"I despised everything about his character and hated how he never got any real consequences for being such an awful person. I wish he didn’t get the happy ending with Holly, but I liked the show more when he was gone."

Do you agree that these characters ended up better than they should have? Are there any others you think belong on this list? Let us know!
