We Need To Talk About My Chemical Romance And Steve Aoki

As most of you may agree, the 2006 hit, "The Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance is one of the best ballads/anthems for all the rejects, punk rockers, and emo kids. Recently, the genius EDM artist, Steve Aoki, created a remix for the song's 10 year anniversary--and it's fucking amazing.
First off, let's talk about that build. Just like in the 2006 original, it starts soft with a simple piano part and gradually builds to a march-like etude. However, in this remix, Steve built us up to a fiery ending that leaves you jittery and excited. The drop gave me chills. It's that heightened nostalgia that that you never want to go away.
Second, the tempos. In the MCR version, the tempo began slow and then shifted into a fast, punk-rock theme and then ended with an march-like anthem. The variations of tempos in the original version are one of the reason "The Black Parade" was so damn majestic. Steve slowed them down at the right times and made the "carry on" even more majestic than it already was.
This remix proves the utter genius of Steve Aoki. He can take anything and mold it into his own while maintaining its original beauty. It is definitely the rendition that celebrates the success of "The Black Parade" in a way that gives it a twist while keeping it the anthem My Chemical Romance meant for it to be.
