The Hating Game by Sally Thorne! Don’t be put off by the cover (I was for MONTHS), this books is truly wonderful. Seeing a natural, realistic, but beautifully heart-pounding hate-to-love story is rare—this is the best one there is.

Technically it's a short story, but "Life in the Iron Mills" by Rebecca Harding Davis is one that I often find people overlook or have simply never heard of. It's emotional, impactful, and so beautifully written. It should be a must-read for everyone.
